Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician

Work Location: NASA White Sands Complex - Las Cruces, NM

Labor Category: Non-Exempt | CBA

Clearance Level: Secret

Pay Rate: $41.69 per hour

Scope of Work:

KIRA Aerospace is currently looking for a Facilities General Maintenance Technician to join our team at the White Sands Complex (WSC) located in Las Cruces, NM. The White Sands Complex is comprised of two large satellite communications buildings with several ancillary support structures. This position is assigned to the Facilities M&O Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on WSC Systems.
  • Apply working technical knowledge to solve complex problems not solved solely by reference to manufacturer’s manuals or similar documents in working on projects or components.
  • Operate, maintain, repair, install, adjust and troubleshoot all types of facilities equipment including controls and electrical power to such equipment.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the functions and operations of the operational equipment, systems and controls at WSC.
  • Perform tasks working as a member of a team with other Job Classifications providing help and assistance as required.
  • Perform duties consistent with this classification with limited supervision and provide technical guidance to lower level classifications as required.
  • Collaborate with other departments as necessary to meet customer requirements.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be vaccinated in accordance with all Executive Orders, Government mandates or requirements, contractual requirements, and company policy.
  • High School diploma (or equivalent) and 6 years of experience in the field in one of the crafts (such as: plumbing, painting carpentry, electrical, air conditioning, general contracting/construction management, CAD, concrete or welding.
  • 2 years’ experience in three or more of the following crafts: plumbing, painting carpentry, electrical, air conditioning, general contracting/construction management, CAD, concrete or welding.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license (state) and may be required to possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License for specific task(s).
  • Must be able to pass an initial and periodic physical examination, as determined by the physical examination requirements for the Job Classification, as follows:
  • Mobile Aerial Platform operation (MAP)
  • Powered Industrial Truck operation (PIT)
  • Respirator and other PPE use
  • Must be able to lift 35 Lbs.
  • Must have the manual dexterity and mobility to climb ladders, scaffolds, antennas, and rooftops
  • This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. As a federal enclave, membership in the union is required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with computerized Maintenance Management Systems, such as Maximo.
  • Experience with office computer use to include MS Office Word, Excel, and Outlook, for email, and electronic time recording.
  • The ability to operate a skid loader and other equipment associated with grounds care.
  • Experience operating and maintaining mobile aerial platforms and powered industrial trucks.
  • Licenses or certifications in any construction or maintenance field.
