Job Description
Greets, directs, checks in and registers patients; enters, updates and verifies pt. insurance information. Schedules outside services; assembles chart forms; updates ID sheet, etc. Secures signatures on release of information, required treatment and billing authorization and other legal documents as necessary. Scans documents in EMR. Maintains Incomplete Verification Worklist in EMR. Assists in insurance authorization process and financial counseling functions. Shriners Portland is looking for a full time Patient Access Representative to join the team!
Key Responsibilities:
Greets and accurately directs patients/families presenting for appointments and treatment.
Accurately enters/updates patient information into computer system according to current applicable procedure at the time of registration.
Accurately enters and updates patient’s insurance information in computer system according to current applicable procedure at the time of registration.
Accurately prepare and secure signatures on required treatment and billing authorization forms. Facilitate and assist with other legal documents as necessary according to current procedure/guidelines.
Assists as needed with insurance authorization process and in financial counseling functions of Shriners Hospital according to current applicable procedure/guidelines.
Maintains computer proficiency to effectively use computer equipment and programs currently in use for this position.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED
2 years Patient access, insurance verification
2 years Computer applications, general office clerical skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate in related field
