Job Description
Job Summary
The Patient Care Assistant II (PCA II) in the Operating Room (OR) provides direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. This role supports the OR team in ensuring a safe and efficient surgical environment, focusing on patient comfort, safety, and operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Assists patients with activities of daily living, including ambulation, transfers, and personal hygiene, pre- and post-operatively.
Prepares operating rooms for surgical procedures, including stocking supplies, setting up equipment, and ensuring cleanliness and sterility.
Transports patients to and from the OR, ensuring their safety and comfort.
Assists the surgical team with positioning patients, applying dressings, and other tasks as directed by the registered nurse or surgeon.
Required Qualifications
Current Certified Nursing Assistant Certification
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and assessment skills necessary to communicate, educate, and provide a therapeutic and safe environment for the specific developmental age groups served between birth and 21 years of age
Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively to assure completion of patient care activities
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in pediatrics/orthopedics
Bilingual English/Spanish
Two years of hospital experience
