Job Description
The role is responsible for the stable, effective, and optimised operation of the SAP HCM system. It ensures reliable service delivery by resolving system issues, managing enhancements and change requests, supporting users, and contributing to system projects to enable operational excellence.
Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Provide accurate advice and support to employees and line managers on payroll and people system-related matters, including policies, procedures, terms and conditions, and system configuration.
- Ensure the stable and effective operation of Payroll and People systems (including SAP and SuccessFactors) by providing first-line system support, logging and resolving incidents, managing bug fixes, and coordinating updates and patches with IM.
- Being the Subject Matter Expert for payroll and people systems, advising on best practice system use, configuration, and optimisation.
- Gather, document, and complete Business Requirements for system enhancements; support design approvals; and manage system changes through development, testing, User Acceptance Testing, training, and implementation.
- Perform bulk data uploads accurately and timeously in line with business requirements, Service Level Agreements, Information Management processes, and best practice.
- Build, maintain, and troubleshoot system reports to support business and payroll reporting requirements.
- Identify system, data, and reporting issues, and work proactively with IM, internal teams, support partners, and vendors to resolve root causes and implement improvements.
- Support the simplification and standardization of payroll and people system processes to improve efficiency and user experience.
- Collaborate closely with the People & Organizational Data Analytics & Technology team, IM, vendors, and support partners to identify, prioritize, and deliver system and process enhancement opportunities, including integrations across platforms.
- Contribute to system roadmaps by providing practical, cost-effective, and user-focused input that supports organizational goals and long-term sustainability.
- Support the design and improvement of system integrations to ensure data accuracy, process efficiency, and business alignment.
- Apply a continuous improvement mindset by coordinating, testing, and monitoring system changes in production environments.
- Support end users through guidance, problem-solving, and enablement to improve system understanding and effective use.
- Ensure system processes comply with data privacy, security, and HR governance requirements.
Qualifications
- Relevant diploma or bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- SAP HCM certification or strong hands-on SAP HCM system experience.
- SAP SuccessFactors Certification (Advantageous)
Experience
- 4–6 years’ experience working with ERP systems, with a strong focus on SAP HCM.
- In‑depth working experience in Payroll SAP HCM, including Time Management, with exposure to Authorizations.
- Solid experience in ERP system support, including system configuration, testing, data management, and end‑user support.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve system issues and support ongoing system optimisation.
Technical knowledge and skills
- In‑depth working knowledge of SAP HCM, with hands‑on experience in Payroll support and Time Management, and exposure to SAP Authorizations.
- Strong understanding of ERP systems and how they support payroll, and business processes.
- Good understanding of business rules, data dependencies, and system controls within HR and payroll environments.
- Working knowledge of agile and structured system delivery methods, including system enhancements, testing, and releases.
- Knowledge of system governance, compliance, and data privacy requirements impacting HR systems.
- Resolve SAP HCM system and reporting issues by working effectively with IM, service providers, and business stakeholders.
- Configure, test, and optimize systems to meet business requirements, ensure data integrity, and improve user experience.
- Translate business needs into clear system and operational requirements to support fixes, enhancements, and integrations.
- Apply system lifecycle and change practices to manage incidents, enhancements, and production changes.
- Contribute to system‑related projects through requirements input, testing, implementation support, and status reporting, with appropriate escalation of risks and issues.
- Apply process improvement methods to simplify workflows and improve system and service performance.
- Analyze data, manage queries, and produce accurate system reports to support decision‑making.
- Monitor service delivery and support governance and compliance in partnership with internal teams and service providers.
- Demonstrate strong analytical, planning, communication, and customer‑focused skills to effectively support system users and priorities.
- Maintain up‑to‑date system knowledge and apply best practice to support continuous system improvement.
