Section Manager Production Mining

Job Description

The main responsibility of this role is to ensure that the Ore Reserve Management process at Dishaba Mine effectively through;

• Implement and support “Zero Tolerance” principles, through leading teams and operating the production equipment safely and in accordance with the production plan, process specifications and operating standards, procedures and work instructions.
• Execute the development and construction schedules aligned to the business plan in order to achieve established targets on HSEC, cost, planned volume and quality compliance.
• Ensure the quality of development and construction is compliant to operating standards, procedures and work instructions
• Manage all work undertaken by front-line operational personnel involved with the delivery and supervision of those; Ore reserve creation activities.
• Ensure all critical controls are in place for the identified Priority Unwanted Events.
• Monitor real time development and construction status and provide resource allocation direction for safe scheduled execution.
• Executes the week 0 schedule and ensures it is aligned to the (week +1 Schedule) to maintain alignment between production and maintenance plans.
• Monitor and verify the competency of personnel in the safe performance of their duties and ensure those duties are performed in accordance with established operating standards, procedures and work instructions.
• Provide input for engineering modifications and improvement needed for machinery and equipment operated by the development.
• Investigate reported accident/incidents timeously, involving relevant stakeholders as per regulatory requirements and mine guidelines.
• Monitor, analyze and respond to audits reports and results.
• Obtain and confirm section budget objectives and monitor / respond to unit cost reports. 
• Managing the section's expenditure within the approved budget to ensure effective cost control and savings

This role is in the Mine Development Department at a band 6 level role reporting to the Production Manager

Qualifications

• Mining Engineering Degree
• Mine Managers Certificate of Competence
• Mine Overseer Certificate
• Underground Blasting Certificate
• Project Management (Advantageous) 

Experience

• At least 8 years underground mining experience (mechanized & conventional)
• Experience of at least 3 years at Mine Overseer level.
• Experience in development activities haulage, crosscut, raises/winzes, boxholes/orepass development, grizzly and box-front development.
• Demonstrated capability through the ranks: Miner, Shift supervisor, Mine overseer.
