Celebrating 85 Years of Building With Purpose

At Absher Construction, we’re proud to celebrate over 85 years as one of the Pacific Northwest’s most respected general contractors. As a 100% employee-owned company, we believe our people are our greatest asset and we invest in them like it! From fully paid medical premiums for employees, to a generous PTO policy, 401(k) and ESOP retirement benefits, we offer a total rewards package that reflects the pride and ownership we bring to every project.

We are seeking a Safety Coordinator to support the implementation and day-to-day execution of Absher’s Safety & Health Program on active construction sites across the region.

In this role, you’ll work closely with Safety Managers, Superintendents, and Project Teams to help ensure our jobsites remain safe, compliant, and well-documented. You’ll spend significant time in the field conducting safety walks, supporting inspections, tracking documentation, and reinforcing safe work practices through presence and partnership.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone building their career in construction safety who wants hands-on field experience and exposure to complex projects while contributing to a strong, people-first safety culture.

What You’ll Do

  • Support implementation of Absher’s Safety & Health Program and jobsite safety requirements
  • Conduct regular jobsite safety walks, observations, and inspections
  • Identify hazards and unsafe conditions and escalate concerns appropriately
  • Assist with incident, near-miss, and unsafe condition reporting and documentation
  • Review subcontractor safety plans and help track compliance on assigned projects
  • Support job hazard analysis, pre-task planning, and work plan development
  • Participate in new project startup by coordinating safety requirements and documentation
  • Accompany Safety, Health, and Insurance inspectors during jobsite walkthroughs as needed
  • Maintain accurate safety records, logs, and reports
  • Partner with field teams to reinforce safe behaviors and promote accountability
  • Demonstrate a visible, consistent presence on jobsites and model safe work practices

Why You’ll Be Successful

You’re detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable being in the field. You take pride in noticing what others might miss and following through to make sure issues are addressed. You communicate clearly, build trust through professionalism, and aren’t afraid to speak up when something doesn’t look right.

You understand that safety is built through relationships, consistency, and shared ownership, and you’re motivated to grow your skills and judgment within a strong safety organization.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of construction safety experience
  • Experience supporting safety on active construction jobsites
  • First Aid / CPR Certification (required)
  • Working knowledge of OSHA construction standards
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with field crews, subcontractors, and leadership
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Preferred:

  • Experience reviewing subcontractor safety plans
  • Exposure to fall protection, scaffolding, confined space, excavation, or electrical safety
  • Interest in pursuing additional safety certifications and career growth

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, and navigating uneven terrain on active jobsites
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
