Job Description

Ready to use your Control and Instrumentation expertise to keep critical infrastructure running safely and reliably at one of the UK’s key power stations? At EDF, Success is Personal – and your career is yours to shape.

As a Control and Instrumentation Maintenance Technician, you’ll help maintain and improve plant performance, supporting EDF’s journey towards An Electric Britain. You’ll work with specialist equipment, grow your expertise, and contribute to safe, reliable low-carbon generation.

Working full-time on site at #Torness power station, you’ll join a skilled team focused on safety and collaboration. With operations planned to at least 2030, you’ll gain valuable experience across the station lifecycle while building a long-term career in nuclear operations.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Carrying out routine maintenance across Control and Instrumentation systems
  • Calibrating and overhauling equipment including pressure, flow, level, and temperature instruments
  • Setting up and maintaining control valves and associated control equipment
  • Diagnosing faults and supporting effective fault finding on station systems
  • Following safe working practices and reporting safety, environmental, and plant issues promptly

Who You Are

We’re looking for a Control and Instrumentation Maintenance Technician who takes pride in safe, high-quality work and enjoys working as part of a team. You’ll bring a proactive mindset and strong technical capability. Are you experienced in…?

  • Completion of a recognised Electrical or Control and Instrumentation apprenticeship, with a HNC being ideal but not essential
  • Background of working in a regulated environment
  • Calibrating, maintaining, and testing industrial instrumentation systems
  • Fault finding within complex industrial or process plant environments
  • Working with control systems, instrumentation, and plant equipment
  • Applying health, safety, and environmental standards in a regulated environment

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.

The role will require you to safely undertake maintenance work, including climbing ladders, working at height, lifting and carrying equipment, and accessing plant and equipment in a range of working environments.

Pay, Benefits and Culture

We are offering a starting salary between £44,121 and £55,574, with the full range of potential progression for the role up to £71,786, with terms and conditions covered by the EDF Nuclear Generation Company Agreement. The starting salary for the appointment will be dependent on your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.

Everyone is welcome at EDF; we’re committed to building a workforce that reflects gender balance, social mobility, and inclusion of minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+ communities, and those with disabilities. As a Disability Confident employer, we will support applicants requiring adjustments.
