OfficeDetroit, Michigan, United StatesSE

We are hiring a BIM Manager to lead BIM and VDC operations across multiple healthcare, institutional, and large-scale commercial electrical construction projects.

We are specifically looking for someone with a strong electrical contractor background who has advanced Revit and Navisworks experience and has already led BIM Coordinators, modelers, or project-based VDC teams. This person must understand how electrical systems are installed in the field and be able to turn design models into accurate, coordinated, and constructible information.

The BIM Manager will own company standards, model quality, clash-detection processes, team development, and project-level BIM execution. This is not an architectural modeling or individual-contributor-only role. The person hired must be capable of setting direction, reviewing team output, resolving technical issues, and ensuring BIM deliverables support prefabrication, layout, field productivity, and project schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Lead BIM and VDC execution across multiple commercial electrical projects while maintaining consistent standards, workflows, and quality-control procedures
  • Manage and mentor BIM Coordinators, modelers, and project-based resources, including workload planning, technical guidance, and deliverable reviews
  • Direct clash detection, constructability reviews, and multidisciplinary coordination with project teams and other trades
  • Review and approve electrical models, shop drawings, installation drawings, and coordination drawings before release to the field
  • Partner with Project Managers, operations leadership, foremen, and field teams to align BIM deliverables with construction sequencing, prefabrication, layout, and installation needs
  • Improve BIM execution plans, training programs, file-management practices, software use, and technology workflows across the organization

Requirements

  • 5+ years of BIM or VDC experience in commercial electrical construction, including direct leadership responsibility
  • Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, clash detection, model management, and multidisciplinary coordination
  • Proven experience managing BIM staff, mentoring technical teams, and reviewing project deliverables
  • Strong understanding of commercial electrical systems, installation methods, construction sequencing, and field coordination
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, contract documents, and project requirements
  • Experience supporting a self-performing electrical contractor strongly preferred

Benefits

Competitive salary based on experience, plus health insurance, retirement plan options, paid time off, and additional company-sponsored benefits.

This role is best suited for an experienced electrical BIM leader who can develop people, establish reliable standards, improve model quality, and ensure BIM directly supports safer and more efficient field execution.
