Strcuture Engineer ( Fabrication Design)

Job Description

• Undertake offshore steel structure fabrication design & production detailing for topside modules, platform decks, bulkheads, support structures, steel ladders, handrails and outfitting steel structures.
• Convert detailed design drawings into yard-friendly fabrication drawings, including unfolding drawing, cutting drawing, nesting layout, assembly drawing, welding procedure layout and installation marking drawing.
• Responsible for steel structure plate unfolding, profile splitting, material splitting and optimized nesting, control steel consumption and reduce fabrication waste.
• Design temporary supports, temporary reinforcement, lifting lugs, sea-fastening and transportation fixing structures for module fabrication, lifting and shipment.
• Follow fabrication workshop process, solve on-site technical problems during cutting, machining, assembly, welding and erection; provide technical support for fabrication team.
• Review technical documents, BOM, material list and fabrication technical requirements; issue design clarification and technical alteration for fabrication.
• Strictly comply with offshore industry standards, DNV/ABS classification rules, company drafting standards and project specification requirements.
• Coordinate with detailed design institute, piping, electrical, HVAC, yard production, procurement and QC team to resolve structural interface and fabrication compatibility issues.
• Prepare fabrication technical instructions, design release documents and technical summary; follow project milestone and deliver fabrication design package on time.
• Standardize fabrication drawing templates, summarize fabrication design experience and optimize design efficiency for repetitive offshore structures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or above in Civil Engineering, Marine Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related major.
• 3+ years offshore / marine / shipyard steel structure fabrication design experience, familiar with offshore module, platform steel structure processing and fabrication workflow.
• Proficient in design software: AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, CADDS, PDMS/E3D or similar structural detailing software; skilled in steel unfolding and nesting design.
• Familiar with offshore steel structure material standard, welding standard, fabrication tolerance, yard construction process and lifting & sea-fastening design principle.
• Familiar with DNV, ABS, ISO and offshore project standard specifications; able to read English technical specs and drawings independently.
• Understand interface coordination between structure and piping, outfitting, electrical & instrumentation disciplines.
• Good English reading & writing ability, able to handle international project documents and cross-team communication.
• Practical, detail-oriented, able to solve on-site fabrication technical problems independently, work under project schedule pressure.
