We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to oversee tax review, client accounting support, and staff workflow within a public accounting environment.

This role is ideal for a tax professional who is comfortable reviewing returns, identifying errors, improving accuracy, supporting clients, and helping maintain workflow quality across a distributed team. The ideal candidate has strong public accounting experience, understands tax compliance, and can operate independently in a fast-paced client-service environment.

This is not a data-entry or bookkeeping-only role. We are looking for someone who can review work, catch issues, communicate with clients, and support timely, accurate tax preparation across multiple engagements.

Responsibilities

  • Review individual, partnership, S-corporation, and corporate tax returns prepared by internal or offshore staff
  • Identify errors, inconsistencies, missing documentation, and compliance risks before final submission
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding tax documentation, filing questions, and financial matters
  • Support month-end and year-end accounting processes across multiple client accounts
  • Review and adjust QuickBooks financials to ensure tax readiness and reporting accuracy
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements across client engagements
  • Provide oversight and guidance to junior accounting or offshore support staff
  • Assist with workflow improvements, internal process standardization, and quality control
  • Support tax planning initiatives and identify opportunities for improved client service
  • Help ensure timely completion of tax preparation and review workflows during busy seasons

Requirements

  • 5+ years of public accounting or tax accounting experience required
  • Experience reviewing tax returns is required, not just preparing them
  • Strong experience with UltraTax, Drake, Canopy, or similar tax software preferred
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks and general ledger accounting required
  • Experience working in a public accounting or client-service environment required
  • Ability to operate independently in a hybrid or partially remote work environment
  • CPA license or CPA eligibility preferred but not required
  • Strong attention to detail, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Candidates with only AP/AR or internal corporate accounting experience will not be sufficient

Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Health insurance and benefits package
  • Retirement plan options
  • Paid time off
  • Additional company-sponsored benefit programs
  • Opportunity to support client relationships and help improve firm-wide accounting workflows

If you’re an experienced tax accountant who enjoys reviewing returns, supporting clients, and helping improve accuracy across a growing public accounting practice, we’d love to hear from you.
