Role Purpose
We are looking for a Data Management Consultant to support the execution of an enterprise data strategy across priority data domains. The role will contribute to data governance, data modeling, metadata management, data quality, and Denodo enablement activities.
This is a hands-on, execution-oriented role for someone who can convert strategic direction into concrete deliverables, analyses, workshop outputs, structured documentation, and implementation support. The consultant will work with business, technology, architecture, data, risk, and control stakeholders to help build trusted, governed, reusable, and AI-ready data foundations.
A key part of the role will be supporting the use of Denodo as a logical data access and distribution layer. The consultant will help document business requirements, logical structures, reusable views, source-to-consumer mappings, metadata, and governance inputs needed for trusted data consumption.
Key Responsibilities
The consultant will support documentation across priority data domains, including source systems, data flows, consumers, domain processes, business usage, reporting needs, and dependencies across business and IT teams.
They will contribute to the identification and documentation of golden sources, system roles, trusted datasets, business definitions, key data elements, and domain terminology. This includes helping clarify which systems act as sources of record, operational sources, reference sources, distribution layers, or consumption layers.
The role will support conceptual and logical data models for selected domains and priority use cases. These models should create a common understanding of key entities, attributes, relationships, and definitions, while supporting reusable and governed data structures.
The consultant will support metadata, business glossary, tagging, and cataloging activities. They will help capture business definitions, technical metadata, ownership details, lineage inputs, sensitivity classifications, quality rules, and usage context.
They will assist in the design and documentation of Denodo-aligned business views and logical data structures, helping translate requirements into reusable structures that support governed access, semantic consistency, and efficient consumption.
The role will support workshops and stakeholder interviews by preparing materials, capturing requirements, documenting decisions, consolidating outputs, and following up on open actions. The consultant must turn discussions into usable working documents.
They will support governance documentation, including ownership, stewardship, custody, RACI inputs, process materials, decision logs, escalation paths, and operating procedures. They will also help define data classifications, key data elements, and control points with business and control teams.
The consultant will contribute to data quality assessments, rule definitions, profiling outputs, issue tracking, remediation follow-up, and rule inventories. They will help document issues clearly, support root-cause analysis, and track remediation actions.
The role also includes preparing presentation materials, status updates, working documents, and delivery packs, while coordinating with IT, architecture, business users, and senior team members.
Required Experience
The ideal candidate will have 4 to 7 years of experience in data governance, data management, data quality, metadata management, data cataloging, data modeling, or related enterprise data roles.
Experience working on enterprise data, analytics, reporting, or transformation initiatives is required. The candidate should understand how data moves from source systems to business consumption, and how governance, quality, metadata, and modeling practices improve trust and reuse.
Good knowledge of data cataloging, business glossary, metadata management, lineage, data quality, and documentation practices is expected. The candidate should be comfortable working with structured templates, operating models, data dictionaries, requirement documents, and process flows.
The role requires understanding of data virtualization concepts and exposure to Denodo or similar logical data platforms. The candidate does not need to be a Denodo developer, but should understand logical data layers, virtual views, reusable datasets, and governed data access.
Strong SQL skills are required, with the ability to analyze data structures, validate assumptions, review data quality issues, and support mapping between sources, logical models, and consumers.
Experience supporting workshops, requirements gathering, stakeholder interviews, and structured documentation is essential. The consultant must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to produce clear outputs without constant supervision.
Experience in financial services, banking, insurance, or another regulated environment is a plus, especially where classification, ownership, controls, traceability, and compliance expectations are important.
Preferred Denodo Knowledge
The ideal candidate will have exposure to Denodo projects, data virtualization initiatives, or logical data layer implementations. Relevant experience may include supporting virtual view documentation, logical data access requirements, semantic or business-facing datasets, source-to-consumer mapping, metadata alignment, and lineage linkage.
The candidate should document requirements for Denodo-based delivery, including business definitions, source mappings, view purposes, ownership, expected consumers, access considerations, and reuse opportunities.
