We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support commercial HVAC and mechanical construction projects within a hands-on subcontractor environment.

This role is ideal for a motivated early-career construction professional who is ready to take on increasing ownership of project execution over time. You will work closely with field crews, vendors, and senior leadership to support HVAC systems, piping installations, and day-to-day coordination across active projects from preconstruction through closeout.

For the right candidate, this position offers a clear growth path toward full Project Manager responsibility within a stable and growing mechanical contractor environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of commercial HVAC and mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
  • Coordinate with field crews, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to keep projects aligned and on schedule
  • Track project schedules, costs, and overall progress while escalating issues as needed
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and construction documents
  • Assist with RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, and project documentation
  • Coordinate material and equipment purchasing with vendors and suppliers
  • Communicate professionally with clients, inspectors, and internal stakeholders throughout project execution
  • Participate in regular jobsite visits to support field operations and monitor construction progress firsthand
  • Support senior project leadership with day-to-day project coordination and execution

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience within commercial HVAC or mechanical construction in an Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer, or similar role
  • Commercial HVAC experience required — residential-only backgrounds will not be considered
  • Experience working for a mechanical contractor or HVAC subcontractor required
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and construction specifications
  • Strong interest in developing into a full Project Manager role over time
  • Basic working knowledge of scheduling and cost tracking tools
  • Comfortable operating in a hands-on, field-oriented contractor environment
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
