The External Directors are responsible for reaching out to sponsors and partners to secure keynote speakers and mentors for events such as CUS Equity & Inclusion’s flagship conference. This role forms strong partnerships and ensures all parties are noticed and well-informed of expectations. 
### Time Commitment
3-8 hours per week 
### Term of Employment
June 2026 - April 2027 
### Main Responsibilities
  • Assist with the organizing and presenting equity-centred workshops in CUS clubs, services, or portfolios on an as-needed basis. 

  • Participate in the updating process of workshop materials. 

  • Contribute ideas and passions to making a more inclusive student culture. 

  • Reporting to and working with the Equity Advisors on all assigned work. 

  • Provide assistance at BizWeek and all E&I events. 

  • Attend weekly team meetings.

  • ### Qualifications
  • UBC Sauder Undergraduate student. 

  • Proficient public speaking and communication skills. 

  • Strong networking and outreach abilities or an interest in developing these skills. 

  • Committed to advocating for inclusivity and belonging at UBC Sauder. 

  • A strong desire to learn from diverse perspectives. 

  • Able to work independently (with guidance). 

  • Ability to deliver information effectively.

  • ### Anticipated Learning Outcomes

    The External Director will be able to develop their communication and interpersonal skills throughout their term. As members of the equity commission, you will also be able to meet and develop connections with professionals working in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. You will also be given the chance to communicate with a diverse group of individuals. In addition, you will have the opportunity to use and develop skills in (but not limited to) the following areas: 

  • Community Building and Student Advocacy 

  • Independent and Collaborative Work 

  • Understanding of Social Justice and EDI Principles
