The VP Visual Media is responsible for the direction and coordination of video content highlighting the achievements of Sauder’s community and student leaders, which will be played at Commerce Night’s annual awards gala. They will collaborate with CUS Visual Media and/or external videographers/video editors to schedule filming with relevant stakeholders, create storyboards for videos, and provide feedback on video rough-cuts. 

The VP Visual Media will also be responsible for all audio-visual coordination on the night of the event (audio-visual management experience is not required as there will be onboarding and training on the day of)

### Time Commitment
  • Summer and first semester: 8-10 hours/week

  • Second semester (prior to Commerce Night): 12-15 hours/week

  • ### Term of Employment
    May 2026 - March 2027
    ### Main Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Chair and VP Logistics to oversee production of visual media and AV for Commerce Night.

  • Collaborate with the VP Marketing to leverage social media for crowdsourcing materials from the Sauder community.

  • Compile photos and videos from individuals, services, and clubs in the Sauder community. 

  • Create a vision, storyboard, and plan for the production process for videos to be played at Commerce Night 2025.

  • Support video production end-to-end, including filming and editing content as needed and/or collaborating with external videographers/editors to execute the creative vision.

  • Communicate with relevant stakeholders regarding video filming.

  • Assist with the overall planning and execution of the Group & Individual Awards Information Session and the Awards Night Gala alongside the team.

  • Mentor 1 Visual Media Associate, who will be hired in the fall.

  • ### Qualifications
  • Intrinsically motivated and good time management skills.

  • Strong understanding of video production processes. 

  • Strong storytelling, creative thinking skills, and the ability to translate ideas into video content. 

  • Experience with editing software (Premiere Pro, Final Cut, etc.) will be considered an asset. 

  • Sound understanding of leadership positions within the CUS and strong connections within the broader Sauder community would be considered an asset.

  • Experience with visual media, editing, filming, or directing will be considered an asset.

  • ### Anticipated Learning Outcomes
  • Build portfolio-ready video work tied to a large-scale, high-visibility event with over 450+ attendees. 

  • Experience in video direction, audio-visual management and cross-functional collaboration through taking ownership over multi-stage creative projects. 

  • Receive training and exposure to AV systems and live event production. 

  • Gain experience promoting and supporting the awards process, including contributing input on evaluation criteria and helping ensure a fair and transparent selection process.
