Summer and first semester: 8-10 hours/week
Second semester (prior to Commerce Night): 10-12 hours/week
Lead the development of an interactive digital experience used by 450+ attendees during the gala (ex. audience engagement features).
Develop and launch an effective full-stack software platform that runs smoothly in real time during the event.
Collaborate with the Junior Reps, Marketing, and Logistics to ideate ways that technology can be used to bring engagement ideas to life.
Test the platform ahead of the event and troubleshoot any issues.
Oversee the platform during the event to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Manage various Commerce Night technology implementations, including but not limited to ticket sale softwares, team management softwares, etc.
Assist with the overall planning and execution of the Group & Individual Awards Information Session and the Awards Night Gala alongside the team.
Mentor 1 Technology Associate, who will be hired in fall.
Demonstrate a strong sense of self-motivation and initiative
Some experience with basic web development, either academic and/or project based (any of: JavaScript, HTML/CSS, React, Node.js, etc.)
Willingness and ability to learn new tools/technologies independently
Strong problem solving mindset, adaptability, and time management skills.
Experience with Bounce Life will be considered an asset.
Sound understanding of Commerce Night and/or similar large-scale awards galas will be considered an asset.
Create a high impact project you can speak about, from ideation to building to live execution at one of UBC Sauder’s largest events!
Learn how to design and execute technology that aligns with a full event run-of-show (timing, transitions, audience flow).
Gain experience managing a live system on event day, monitoring performance and troubleshooting in real time.
Gain experience promoting and supporting the awards process, including contributing input on evaluation criteria and helping ensure a fair and transparent selection process.
