Associate Director - Content Strategy & Growth Analytics

Job Summary

We are looking for a hands-on, data-driven lead to drive growth for JioHotstar Entertainment in South markets. This role sits at the intersection of content, product, and growth, and is responsible for driving Watch Time (WT), Video Views (VV), and monetization outcomes.

You will leverage data to uncover insights, frame hypotheses, and work cross-functionally to design and scale initiatives across content strategy, product experience, and marketing interventions.

This is a high-impact individual contributor role with strong visibility to leadership.
### Key Responsibilities

1. Data Analysis & Insight Generation

  • Independently analyze large-scale datasets using SQL and analytics tools (e.g., Databricks, Redash)
  • Generate actionable insights across content performance, user behavior, and platform engagement
  • Partner with central analytics teams for complex datasets and advanced analyses
  • Champion the use of AI-driven workflows to enhance analytics efficiency and depth
  • 2. Growth & KPI Ownership

    • Co-own and drive outcomes across Watch Time (WT), Video Views (VV), user growth, and monetization
    • Identify and prioritize growth levers across content, product, and marketing
    • Track performance vs. targets (monthly/annual) and proactively recommend course corrections and growth opportunities at the South cluster level
    • 3. Hypothesis-Driven Problem Solving

      • Develop structured, data-backed hypotheses to improve engagement, discoverability, and retention
      • Partner with Product and Marketing teams to design, execute, and evaluate A/B tests and experiments
      • Translate experiment outcomes into scalable, high-impact business actions
      • 4. Cross-Functional Leadership

        • Collaborate closely with Content, Product, Marketing (on/off platform), Strategy, and Central Analytics teams
        • Lead and represent the South cluster on cross-functional growth initiatives
        • Influence decision-making through data-backed insights, clear storytelling, and business context
        • Mentor and guide junior team members (without direct reporting lines)
        • 5. Content & Monetization Insights

          • Analyze performance across Originals, Movies, GEC, and Library content to inform portfolio strategy
          • Evaluate content “travelability” across languages and markets
          • Partner with pricing and revenue teams to unlock ad and subscription monetization opportunities
          • 6. Business Cadence & Leadership Engagement

            • Lead regular performance reviews and insight cadences with the South Business Head and market teams
            • Translate data into clear narratives, recommendations, and actionable plans

### Skills & Attributes for success

Experience & Skills

  • Strong hands-on skills in SQL (must-have); working knowledge of Amplitude/Mix Panel, Advanced Excel/Spreadsheet modelling preferred
  • Experience with A/B testing, experimentation frameworks, and data-driven product decisions
  • Experience leveraging AI/ML-driven or automated workflows in analytics (e.g., LLMs, automation, advanced modeling) is a strong advantage
  • Proven ability to independently work with data and drive measurable business outcomes
  • Problem Solving & Influence

    • Structured, hypothesis-driven thinker with strong analytical rigor
    • Ability to own ambiguous problems end-to-end and translate insights into impact
    • Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to influence cross-functional teams
    • Nice to Have

      • Understanding of South Indian content ecosystems and audience behavior
      • Familiarity with regional language markets
### Preferred Education & Experience

Preferred Background

  • ~10 years of experience in data analytics, business analytics, or growth/strategy roles
  • Experience in management consulting, OTT/media, or consumer tech platforms
  • Exposure to both product analytics and content performance analytics
  • MBA or Masters in Statistics, Data Science, or related fields
