Job Description

As a Group Underwriter at TAL, you play a vital role in helping Australians protect what matters most. By applying sound judgement and a consistent underwriting philosophy, you support the sustainability of our insurance solutions and the long‑term security of our customers. In this role you will:

  • Deliver high‑quality underwriting decisions that sustain a profitable and well‑balanced risk portfolio.
  • Uphold customer commitments by consistently meeting Life Insurance Code of Practice and risk framework obligations.
  • Achieve underwriting volume and quality outcomes that support business growth and portfolio integrity.
  • Build trusted relationships with fund partners through clear, timely and effective communication.
  • Resolve adviser, fund and partner enquiries or escalations to positive and compliant outcomes.
  • Strengthen the customer experience by proactively identifying issues and contributing to consistent team practices.

Qualifications

  • Established underwriting authority, with the confidence to make sound, balanced risk decisions.
  • Experience in group risk underwriting, or a strong foundation with the ability to adapt quickly in this environment.
  • Strong knowledge of professional standards and industry codes, applied with care and integrity.
  • A high level of attention to detail, ensuring accuracy, consistency and trust in every decision.
  • Strong relationship‑building skills, enabling effective collaboration with partners, peers and stakeholders.
  • A positive, solutions‑focused mindset, contributing to a collaborative, high‑performance team culture.
