Job Description Summary

We are seeking an infrastructure-focused technical professional to help shape and support the environments that power engineering analytics, remote monitoring and diagnostic systems, and data-driven decision making across our power plant equipment and services business.

This role works at the intersection of Engineering, IT/OT, Cybersecurity, Data & Analytics, and Operations, with a primary focus on infrastructure: cloud platforms, networking, compute, storage, virtualization, identity, security, and hybrid connectivity. The ideal candidate brings practical experience in infrastructure and cloud technologies, along with exposure to how ML, AI, and GenAI systems rely on the right data, compute, storage, networking, security, and operational foundations.

You will contribute to infrastructure initiatives that help our teams build secure, scalable, and reliable platforms for analytics, machine learning, and AI-enabled solutions. This is not a software-development-first role; it is an infrastructure-first role for a candidate who can collaborate across cloud architecture, operations, cybersecurity, and data platform enablement.

Through relentless innovation and continuous collaboration with our customers, GE Gas Power, part of GE Vernova, is providing more advanced, cleaner, and efficient power that people depend on today and building the energy technologies of the future.

Job Description

What You'll Do:

  • Support the design and evolution of infrastructure platforms for engineering analytics, ML/AI, and GenAI workloads, with emphasis on cloud-first architecture.

  • Review existing architectures for improvement opportunities and recommend changes to improve performance, reliability, cyber security, and cost.

  • Translate infrastructure, operations, cybersecurity, engineering, and data science requirements into practical technical designs and implementation plans while adhering to enterprise standards.

  • Partner with Engineering, Data/Analytics, IT/OT, Cybersecurity, and Services teams to align infrastructure capabilities with business needs while supporting reliability, resiliency, and secure operations.

Program & Project Leadership

  • Support infrastructure initiatives across architecture, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and operational transition for cloud and hybrid environments.

  • Work with cross-functional teams including infrastructure architects, cloud engineers, security specialists, platform engineers, operations teams, and external vendors.

  • Contribute to delivery using LEAN, Agile, and modern infrastructure practices, with focus on automation, operational readiness, and measurable business outcomes.

Technical Depth & Architecture

Contribute to architectural decisions for cloud-first, secure, and scalable infrastructure, including support for:

  • Compute environments for engineering analytics, simulation, and ML/AI workloads

  • Data platforms, data lakes, and storage architectures that support analytics and data-intensive workloads

  • Exposure to SCADA, Industrial IoT, historians, time-series data platforms, or remote monitoring and diagnostic systems

  • Cloud-first AWS and Azure architectures with practical hybrid patterns spanning on-premises infrastructure, networking, and secure connectivity

  • Infrastructure patterns that support analytics, ML/AI, and emerging AI use cases, including compute, storage, orchestration, observability, access control, and operational resiliency

Integration & Data Enablement

  • Support integration across OT systems, engineering tools, enterprise platforms, cloud services, and security controls to enable reliable and secure data movement.

  • Partner with data and platform teams to help ensure pipelines, governance, storage, and access patterns meet performance, reliability, and security requirements.

  • Help enable secure, scalable access to engineering and operational data for analytics, ML/AI, and GenAI use cases while supporting governance and compliance expectations.

Operational Excellence

  • Support tracking of SLAs, KPIs, and performance metrics for infrastructure platforms

  • Help ensure systems are secure, compliant, resilient, and optimized for cost and performance

  • Drive continuous improvement through automation, monitoring, and LEAN methodologies.

  • Troubleshoot and help resolve infrastructure and platform issues, working with systems operations, engineering, and support teams to minimize downtime and improve user experience.

  • Document technical specifications, project plans, and post-implementation reviews to keep a knowledge base for future projects.

  • Communicate project status, challenges, and successes to leadership and customers, providing clear and concise updates.

What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications):

  • 5-8 years of experience with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience/knowledge.

  • Experience in infrastructure architecture, cloud platform engineering, enterprise infrastructure, or related technical roles.

  • Experience contributing to infrastructure initiatives in industrial, enterprise, or engineering environments, including cloud and hybrid deployments.

Strong understanding of:

  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and hybrid architectures, with a cloud-first mindset and some practical on-premises experience

  • Virtualization and platform operations (for example VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix, containers, or orchestration platforms)

  • Infrastructure automation, platform operations, and DevOps practices as applied to infrastructure and platform delivery

  • Infrastructure as Code and repeatable cloud provisioning patterns

  • Ability to translate infrastructure and security requirements into practical implementation plans.

  • Foundational knowledge of enterprise networking, compute, storage, and resiliency concepts

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across teams including engineering, IT/OT, cybersecurity, operations, and leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with data architecture, storage patterns, and platform requirements for analytics and AI-enabled workloads

  • Experience in the energy, power generation, aerospace, manufacturing, or heavy industrial equipment sectors.

  • Familiarity with engineering tools, reliability analytics, digital twin environments, or data-intensive engineering platforms.

  • Exposure to SCADA, historians, industrial remote monitoring systems, or IT/OT integration concepts

  • Exposure to ML/AI, GenAI, LLMs, or AI platform concepts from an infrastructure and platform perspective

  • Experience supporting engineering, manufacturing, industrial analytics, or other operational environments is a plus.

  • Hands-on scripting or automation experience (for example Python, PowerShell, Bash, or SQL) to support infrastructure and operational workflows.

  • Background in LEAN, Six Sigma, site reliability, or operational excellence methodologies.

  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity principles relevant to cloud, enterprise infrastructure, and OT-connected environments, including identity, access control, hardening, logging, and compliance.

  • Excellent critical thinking skills.

What success looks like

  • Engineering teams have fast, reliable, secure access to the data and compute they need.

  • Analytics and AI solutions deploy faster and scale more efficiently.

  • Infrastructure platforms become standardized, automated, and easier to operate.

  • Cross-functional teams trust you as the connective tissue between engineering, data, and IT/OT.

  • You help strengthen the company's ability to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable digital solutions.

What will make you stand out

  • Hands-on infrastructure delivery: experience contributing to cloud, hybrid, networking, compute, storage, or platform improvement initiatives.

  • Cross-team collaboration: experience working with infrastructure, cybersecurity, operations, and engineering stakeholders to deliver reliable and secure platforms.
