This temporary position is with NC DHHS DCFW CDSA, located at 2500 Heart Drive, Asheville NC, Buncombe County. 

Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $42.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application). 

NC DHHS – Division of Child and Family Wellbeing, Children’s Development Services Agency (DCFW CDSA) is seeking a Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP). The ideal candidate for this role will have a licensure in good standing and will work in a multi-disciplinary pediatric setting. They will be able to apply their knowledge of the principles, techniques, and methods of speech/language pathology applicable to children birth to three years of age. This includes speech and language development, articulation, phonology, oral-motor function and pediatric dysphagia. The selected candidate will be personable and able to deal tactfully and effectively with patients, patients’ families, medical personnel, and other CDSA staff members, and public.

The selected candidate will:
* Travel throughout a 4-county area (Buncombe, Madison, Henderson and Transylvania) as needed - Travel reimbursement or state vehicle provided
* Apply working knowledge of augmentative communication options and devices for this population
* Deliver SLP services both in-person and virtually
* Evaluate patient response and progress and to present evaluative reports in case staffings and multi-disciplinary team meetings

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

  • Considerable knowledge of services, policies and procedures related to area of specialization
  • Ability to utilize relevant technology (software and systems) to meet organizational needs
  • Ability to identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities; use effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions
  • Ability to present ideas clearly and effectively in written form and adjust language or terminology to meet the needs of the audience
  • Ability to use correct grammar, organization, and structure

Highly Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree in Communication Disorders/Speech-Language Pathology and 2 years of experience as a Speech/Language Pathologist
  • Additional Licensure or Certification Preferred: Certification of Clinical Competence by the American Speech Language Hearing Association
  • Licensed to practice as a speech/language pathologist in the state of North Carolina
