Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Application Support Engineer to join the Wealth Management Application Production Support (WM APS) team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, availability, and performance of critical Wealth Management applications in a 24/7 production environment.
You will play a key role in incident management, service request handling, troubleshooting, monitoring, and operational support activities. Additionally, you will contribute to automation initiatives, disaster recovery (DR) exercises, service improvements, and collaboration with global teams to deliver a resilient and reliable production platform.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with a proactive mindset and proven experience supporting mission-critical applications within the banking or financial services industry.
Key Responsibilities
Production Support & Operations
- Provide L1/L2 application production support for Wealth Management data platform applications and tools.
- Monitor application and infrastructure health, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents, service requests, and production issues within agreed SLAs.
- Analyze application, middleware, and system logs to identify root causes and implement solutions.
- Participate in shift rotations, on-call support, weekends, and public holiday coverage as part of a 24/7 support model.
- Escalate risks, critical incidents, and operational issues in a timely manner.
Automation & Continuous Improvement
- Design, develop, and maintain automation solutions using Ansible, Terraform, Python, and Bash.
- Build and enhance Infrastructure as Code (IaC) capabilities to streamline provisioning, configuration, and deployments.
- Drive service improvements through automation, monitoring enhancements, and operational optimization initiatives.
- Support knowledge sharing and coaching of operations teams on Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, and automation best practices.
Governance & Collaboration
- Create, maintain, and improve operational procedures and knowledge base articles.
- Participate in disaster recovery (DR) exercises and production readiness activities.
- Support release management and change implementation processes.
- Validate and participate in knowledge transfer sessions delivered by development teams.
- Collaborate closely with application development, infrastructure, and global APS teams to ensure platform stability and service excellence.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in Linux administration, CLI, and Shell Scripting.
- Proficiency in Python and/or Bash scripting.
- Experience with PL/SQL and database troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes (K8s).
- Strong knowledge of Infrastructure Automation tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
- Experience with CI/CD platforms including Jenkins, Travis CI, Concourse, or similar.
- Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools, including Dynatrace.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud, or Google Cloud.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes and best practices.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in IT Operations, Application Support, Site Reliability Engineering, or Software Engineering.
- Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud, or Google Cloud).
- Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience with Ansible and Docker.
- Proven experience supporting critical banking, financial services, or enterprise applications.
- Strong understanding of Wealth Management and Core Banking operational processes is highly desirable.
Preferred Certifications
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux Automation with Ansible (RH294).
- Developing Advanced Automation with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (DO374).
- Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD).
- HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate (Preferred).
- HashiCorp Certified: Vault Associate (Preferred).
- ITIL Foundation Certification.
