Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst to join the US Custody IT Team based in Lisbon. You will be part of a global team of 14 professionals distributed across Portugal, the United States, and India, supporting key Custody and Clearing platforms used within a leading international banking environment.
The role focuses on business analysis, requirements gathering, functional design, testing coordination, and project delivery for critical applications supporting Custody, Corporate Actions, Securities Settlement, and Asset Servicing activities.
You will act as a bridge between Business and IT teams, ensuring that business requirements are clearly understood, documented, and transformed into effective technology solutions.

The team primarily supports the following strategic platforms:
BaNCS (TCS)
A leading custody and securities processing platform developed by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), used to support:
- US Local Clearing & Settlement
- Global Clearing & Settlement
- Custody Operations
- Securities Processing
Additional Applications
Inferno (Torstone)
- Messaging platform responsible for converting SWIFT messages into FED format and vice versa.
Corporate Universe (ISS)
- Corporate Trust application supporting DTC FAST Agent services, bond processing, record keeping, and asset servicing activities.
Money Market Manager (M3 – SS&C)
- Platform supporting Issuing and Paying Agent (IPA) activities and money market operations.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand, challenge, and refine business requirements.
- Conduct impact analysis and feasibility assessments for new initiatives and system changes.
- Translate business needs into detailed functional specifications and user stories.
- Provide functional expertise across Custody, Settlement, and Corporate Actions domains.
- Identify process improvements and recommend innovative solutions.
Project Delivery
- Participate in all phases of project and release lifecycles.
- Support market-driven, regulatory, and strategic transformation projects.
- Ensure adherence to project timelines, governance standards, and delivery commitments.
- Manage and coordinate change requests related to system enhancements and evolutions.
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Prepare and execute functional test scenarios.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities.
- Validate delivered solutions against business requirements.
- Perform peer reviews and contribute to quality assurance processes.
- Ensure successful deployment readiness of new functionalities.
Production Support & Collaboration
- Provide functional support and expertise to operational and Service Delivery teams.
- Assist with the investigation of complex incidents and production issues.
- Maintain strong collaboration with business teams, vendors, developers, and global stakeholders.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and documentation activities.
Qualifications
Master's Degree in:
- Computer Science
- Engineering
- Finance
- Business Management
- Economics
- Tax
- Law
- Or a related discipline
Minimum 4 years of professional experience within Financial Services.
Proven experience as a Business Analyst in Banking, Securities Services, or Capital Markets.
Strong understanding of Custody Operations and related processes.
Good knowledge of Corporate Actions activities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Technical Skills
Required
- Business Analysis methodologies and best practices.
- Experience working within Waterfall project environments.
- Strong experience with JIRA.
- Requirements elicitation and functional specification writing.
- Functional testing and UAT support.
Nice to Have
- SQL knowledge.
- Understanding of Securities Settlement and Clearing processes.
- General IT architecture and application lifecycle knowledge.
- Experience with market, regulatory, or transformation projects.
- Knowledge of SWIFT messaging.
- Exposure to vendor platforms such as BaNCS, M3, Inferno, or Corporate Universe.
