Job Description
The Roofbolter Operator is responsible to operate a mobile mechanized roofbolter underground to the required mining and safety standards. Drill and install roofbolts as per the code of practice.
Roles and responsibilities include the following:
- Obtain daily and weekly work instructions from Shift/Team Supervisor
- Prepare and plan work priority list and resource requirements in order to complete tasks
- Effective roofbolt operation to achieve targets within set quality standards
- Ensure that all resources requirements are communicated to Shift/team Supervisor in order to complete allocated work tasks.
- Ensure that the correct tools are used to complete tasks
- Ensure that all work conducted is performed to the required standards and specifications
- Inform the other workers in the section when work are being conducted to ensure safety
- Effective driving of equipment.
- Ensure that all safety and legal requirements are carefully followed
- Communicate any stumbling blocks to the appropriate Shift/team Supervisor so that plans can be made
- Ensure that safe and proper running of all machinery and equipment is conducted
- Identify opportunities to improve operations
- Conduct basic maintenance activities on equipment
This role is on a B7 level reporting to the Miner
Qualifications
- Grade 12 or equivalent is advantageous
- NQF Level 3
- Must have Competent B
Experience
- None
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to communicate in English (read, write, speak)
- Certified competent as a Roofbolter Operator
- VTS testing suitable grading
- Valid driving license Code 10
