Job Description
- Lead Daily Operations: Oversee the smooth running of restaurant, bar, and event services, ensuring every guest receives professional, efficient, and friendly service. Anticipate and respond to guest needs, manage busy service periods with confidence, and work collaboratively with the kitchen and front office teams to deliver seamless experiences.
- Team Leadership & Development: Supervise, train, and mentor Food & Beverage team members to deliver consistently high service standards. Support recruitment and onboarding of new team members, develop rosters that balance business needs with team wellbeing, and actively coach staff to grow their skills, product knowledge, and confidence. Foster a culture of inclusion, engagement, and recognition, living the Heartist values.
- Service Standards & Compliance: Maintain the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and presentation in line with legislative requirements and Accor policies. Ensure Responsible Service of Alcohol principles are always followed, oversee billing accuracy and cash handling, and conduct regular stocktakes to manage cost control. Uphold workplace health and safety standards, taking proactive steps to identify risks and ensure a safe environment for guests and team members.
- Guest Experience & Engagement: Take the lead in creating memorable guest moments by setting the standard in customer service. Personally greet and engage with VIP and regular guests, handle enquiries and complaints with professionalism and empathy, and encourage the team to maximise sales opportunities through product knowledge and upselling techniques.
- Business Contribution: Contribute to the department’s financial performance by ensuring efficiency in labour costs, reducing wastage, and driving revenue through promotions and loyalty programmes. Support the implementation of new initiatives, special events, and service innovations that enhance the hotel’s reputation and guest satisfaction.
Qualifications
- A confident and experienced leader with at least 5+ years in a Food & Beverage Supervisory role, preferably in hotels or high-volume restaurants
- Calm and solutions-focused, especially during busy or disrupted periods such as cancelled flights – you thrive under pressure and keep the team grounded
- Someone who leads with manaakitanga – showing genuine care, hospitality, and respect for others in everything you do
- Knowledgeable in alcohol service, wine varietals, and beverage pairing, with a passion for sharing your knowledge
- Holding an LCQ and/or Manager’s Certificate is highly desirable
