Data Governance & Analytics Lead

We are seeking a senior executive to define and lead the company's data agenda across strategy, governance, analytics, reporting, and decision enablement. This role is designed for a fintech operating in embedded finance, where data must inform product design, credit decisioning, commercial execution, operational processes, and regulatory discipline.

The position is intentionally established as an independent senior leadership role rather than a conventional function nested within IT, Finance, or Operations. The mandate is cross-functional by design, reflecting the company's view that data quality, accessibility, compliance, and insight generation are foundational to sustainable growth and effective risk management.

Responsibilities:

• Define and maintain the enterprise data strategy, including data architecture priorities, governance standards, ownership principles, and business enablement objectives;
• Establish robust data governance disciplines covering quality, lineage, controls, access, documentation, and lifecycle management;
• Drive data democratization across functions by developing trusted data products, management reporting, dashboards, and self-service analytics capabilities;
• Ensure that data practices support regulatory compliance, auditability, risk oversight, and decision transparency in a financial services environment;
• Partner with product, risk, engineering, operations, compliance, and commercial teams to embed data into front-end journeys, back-end processes, underwriting logic, portfolio monitoring, and performance management;
• Help identify, assess, and integrate new data sources and signals that can improve credit decisioning, fraud controls, customer understanding, and operational efficiency;
• Enable the responsible application of advanced analytics, machine learning, and agentic automation across relevant business workflows;
• Build and deliver high-value analytical outputs directly when needed, recognizing that in a small and agile organization, senior leaders are expected to remain hands-on in execution;
• Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements and supporting the continued implementation of the Group Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a senior data role within fintech, banking, or a data-intensive environment;
• Strong understanding of credit risk, lending products, or financial services data ecosystems;
• Deep expertise in data governance, data modeling, and data architecture;
• Experience working with both structured and unstructured data sources;
• Hands-on capability in SQL and at least one analytical or programming language (e.g., Python);
• Familiarity with machine learning workflows and practical applications in decision systems;
• Comfortable in a startup environment where ambiguity is high and execution is key;
• Strong communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and business perspectives.

Desirable Profile

The ideal candidate combines strategic judgment with practical execution capability. They will bring experience from fintech, lending, banking, or another highly regulated and data-intensive environment, with a strong grasp of how data governance, analytics, and decision systems create measurable business value.

They should be comfortable operating with broad influence rather than relying on large hierarchical teams, and should be credible both in executive discussions and in direct problem-solving. Strong familiarity with modern data environments, structured and unstructured data, analytics tooling, and applied ML use cases will be important to success in the role.
