Job Description
This vacancy is open to employees of Isle of Wight NHS Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust only.
NHS Band 6 salary: £39,959 - £48,117 pro rata per annum
actual salary 31,967 - 38,493 per annum
Hours per week: part time 30
Contract type: Temporary for 12 months
This is an opportunity to join the Safeguarding Service, place based on the Isle of Wight, for a years fixed term contract or a secondment to cover Maternity Leave.
- The Post holder is required to hold a relevant qualification i.e., Registered Nurse, Social Work Qualification, Allied health Professional Qualification with relevant experience of adults / child / maternity safeguarding.
- Provide operational safeguarding support to all Trust services, and inform Safeguarding All Age Specialist Practitioner and Named Nurse / Professional Lead for Safeguarding of current concerns/trends expressed by frontline staff.
- To assist the Safeguarding Service in the delivery of safeguarding training
- To support the development and implementation of safeguarding practice across the Trust.
- To ensure effective multi agency liaison, meeting the statutory requirements by providing support and advice to all area’s of the Trust.
- To support the trust Safeguarding Service in performing their safeguarding duties and responsibilities through advice to operational services, escalation of concerns to/from other agencies and effective feedback and support from safeguarding meetings and forums.
- To assist in audit and reporting of safeguarding processes, actions, and outcomes across the Trust.
- To assist the Safeguarding Specialist Practitioner / Named Nurse / Professional for Safeguarding to embed a Family Approach towards safeguarding across the trust.
- To maintain and improve the understanding of what constitutes a safeguarding referral and ensure the quality of safeguarding referrals
- To work in collaboratively with Divisions supporting the Section 42 enquiry process and ensuring learning is embedded within operational practice.

Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Nurse
- Qualification in Social Work
- Allied health professional Qualification i.e., Speech and Language Therapy, Specialist Dentistry, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
Desirable
- Teaching and assessment qualification.
Experience
- Post registration experience of safeguarding adults
Skills and Knowledge
- Knowledge of national and local safeguarding adult polices guidelines and recommendations
- Knowledge of relevant legislation relating to safeguarding adults
- Demonstrates knowledge of abuse and neglect
- Knowledge of the Local Authority Multi-Agency Safeguarding Adult Hub (MASH) agenda
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
- Good IT skills, email, word and excel
- Presentation skills
- Ability to prioritise, work flexibly and to tight deadlines
- Completion of audits, reports, and chronologies
- Non-judgemental and self-motivated
