More about the role:
As a Senior Consultant in Burson’s Corporate practice you will lead high-profile corporate communications and issues mandates for some of the most recognised organisations across the Netherlands. You will be the counsel clients turn to when reputation is on the line, leading integrated teams to deliver outstanding work that protects, builds and advances their standing with the audiences that matter most.
We are looking for someone with deep corporate communications expertise and proven issues experience, who understands how reputation, policy and public sentiment intersect, and who can guide clients with confidence through a fast-moving and often complex landscape.
You’ll be someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and is experienced in working with globally recognised organisations who lead their fields and expect their communications to as well.
What you'll do:
- Trusted client counsel: Serve as the trusted senior point of contact for clients, providing strategic corporate communications and issues counsel, and developing a comprehensive understanding of client objectives, stakeholders and sector dynamics across industries such as Energy, Healthcare or Technology.
- Media & Stakeholder knowledge: You’ll have a nose for news and a sharp understanding of the political, regulatory and media environment, and know how to develop insightful corporate and public affairs strategies.
- Issues & Crisis: Anticipate, prepare for and manage reputational issues and live crises – developing scenario planning, positioning and response strategies that protect and strengthen client reputation under pressure.
- Corporate & public affairs strategy: Shape and deliver integrated programmes that connect corporate narrative, stakeholder engagement and public affairs, ensuring clients’ voices land with policymakers, media, employees and the wider public.
- Planning and creativity: Know what cuts through in the corporate, policy and issues space, and develop creative storytelling and content that builds reputation and earns meaningful engagement.
- Day-to-day leader & quality control: Direct overall account activity, ensuring seamless execution, brilliant delivery, and consistently high levels of client service.
- Proactivity: Drive innovative execution across day-to-day corporate communications, campaigns and issues management.
- Team player: Play an active and helpful part in client teams and broader Burson initiatives, demonstrating effective time management and acting as an agency ambassador.
Experience that contributes to success:
- Established corporate communications experience at Senior Manager or Account Director level, ideally within an agency, with demonstrable issues and/or crisis experience.
- Sector knowledge in one or more of Energy, Healthcare or Technology, with an understanding of the reputational, regulatory and stakeholder issues that shape these industries.
- Proven experience across Corporate and Issues & Crisis, with a strong understanding of how to build and deliver effective reputation and stakeholder strategies for the modern media and policy era.
- A robust network of relevant media, policy, and stakeholder contacts.
- Proven ability to manage fast-paced, ambitious clients and dynamic portfolios, providing exceptional client counsel.
- Energetic and committed team leadership experience, capable of inspiring and motivating teams.
- High levels of intelligence, initiative, and integrity, with an ambition to create award-winning work.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills, coupled with a commitment to day-to-day excellence.
