About the Team
The Accounting team delivers decision-useful insight across complex strategies and instruments — including total return swaps — by pairing deep product expertise with cutting-edge, AI-enabled workflows to improve speed, accuracy, and quality. We produce reliable financial reporting grounded in rigorous controls and integrity, with standards that earn stakeholder trust. We continuously improve how we operate so the business can scale with confidence.
Role Overview
We are building a best in class fund accounting function that delivers accurate, decision-useful financial reporting across complex, multi-asset strategies. In order to drive the development of a world-class fund accounting capability, we are investing in our people, controls and technology to improve speed, accuracy, and quality of everything we produce. This transformation includes a transition from VPM to Geneva and the implementation of automation and AI-assisted workflows across the firm.
As a Senior Accountant, you will own complex reconciliations, financial statement preparation and the accounting treatment of sophisticated instruments such as derivatives and total return swaps. You will work directly with auditors, counterparties and internal stakeholders, and partner with Accounting and Finance leadership to drive process improvement across the function.
This is a hands-on role for someone who is technically strong, controls-focused and collaborative – someone who enjoys solving complex problems and raising the bar for accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced trading environment.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Accounting and Finance leadership to drive the development of the accounting function, implementing efficient, accurate, and uniform processes
- Engage directly with auditors to coordinate and prepare audited financial statements
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and other financial information for hedge fund clients in accordance with GAAP/IFRS and regulatory requirements
- Articulate the operations of various financial products traded by the firm, with a strong emphasis on derivatives and total return swaps
- Work independently on complex reconciliations and provide insightful feedback to help enhance processes
- Collaborate with the Operations and IT teams, especially during the transition from VPM to Geneva, to ensure seamless integration and functionality
- Mentor junior accountants to foster professional growth and development
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve existing processes and contribute a more efficient and effective team environment
What makes a great candidate?
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and propose innovative solutions
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross functional teams
- A proactive attitude, with a strong desire to drive process improvements and contribute to a team’s success
- Intellectual curiosity and strong work ethic
- The ability to challenge the status quo and drive meaningful change
- A focus on continuous improvement and excellence in execution
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA strongly preferred (not required)
- 7+ years of hedge fund accounting experience spanning daily P&L/NAV support and month-end/quarter-end/year-end close, including financial statement preparation support
- Experience with onshore/offshore fund structures (e.g., master-feeder) and multi-currency accounting
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS, including experience supporting both GAAP and IFRS audits (planning, PBC management, issue resolution, and minimizing adjustments)
- Hands-on experience with total return swaps and other complex products, including lifecycle events, financing/accruals, resets, collateral/margin, counterparty statements, and P&L drivers
- Demonstrated strength in controls and oversight: reconciliations, break investigation/resolution, valuation/price challenge, documentation, and timely issue escalation with a “no surprises” mindset
- Experience working directly with counterparties, primes/custodians, and internal stakeholders to resolve exceptions and deliver accurate, timely reporting
- Experience with Geneva and/or VPM strongly preferred; experience supporting a platform conversion (UAT, parallel runs, data reconciliation, and procedure updates) a major plus
- Advanced Excel skills; comfort working with large datasets and improving processes through automation and AI-enabled tools (with strong judgment around validation, controls, and confidentiality)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; collaborative working style in a fast-paced trading environment
