Job Description

The Program Director's caseload will involve programs located in the Baraboo & Lyndon Station areas, occasional travel to Madison is required.

Lead High-Impact Behavioral Programs. Make a Real Difference.

At Dungarvin, we don’t just provide support—we transform lives. As a Program Director, you will lead residential programs serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities alongside complex behavioral and mental health needs.

This is not a traditional group home leadership role. This is an opportunity for a strong, hands-on leader who thrives in high-acuity environments, can confidently guide teams through crisis situations, and is passionate about person-centered, trauma-informed care.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and oversee residential programs, including high-acuity behavioral homes (AFH settings)
  • Supervise, coach, and develop teams of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs)
  • Drive implementation of Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) and partner on Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs)
  • Provide leadership during crisis situations, ensuring safe, consistent, and compliant responses
  • Collaborate with families, case managers, and clinical teams to ensure quality care
  • Manage program operations including staffing, budgets, and compliance
  • Train new and existing staff on behavioral interventions, safety protocols, and best practices
  • Conduct performance management, including coaching, evaluations, and disciplinary action as needed
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, supporting both traditional and behavioral programs

Work Environment and Office Hours:

This position is in-office, providing site supervision for direct care staff. This role involves typical office hours, Monday through Friday, full-time. Additionally, the Program Director must have a flexible schedule with the ability to be on-call during the on-call rotation (this includes weekends and odd hours).

Travel to Madison is required.

Qualifications

What Makes You a Strong Fit

We’re looking for leaders who are confident, experienced, and ready to step into complex environments:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Behavioral Science, or related field
  • 2+ years of leadership experience, including hiring, coaching, and performance management
  • Required or strongly preferred:
    • Experience supporting individuals with co-occurring developmental disabilities and mental health diagnoses
    • At least one-year, hands-on experience with behavioral interventions and Behavior Support Plans (BSPs)
    • Proven ability to manage crisis situations, de-escalation, and high-risk behaviors
  • Experience in residential, group home, or behavioral health settings highly preferred
  • Strong decision-making, communication, and organizational skills
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and acceptable driving record
