Job Description

COM is looking for a Social Media Officer to work in the SCO Division, liaising closely with COM production and impact measurement divisions as well as communications professionals in all OECD directorates and bodies.

The selected candidate will seek to generate social media content and engagement in the context of the OECD’s broader communications strategies. S/he will work under the supervision of the Social Media Lead and report to the Head of Media and Social Media Unit.

 

Main Responsibilities

Social media content and editorial development

  • Contribute actively to the OECD’s social media strategy, proposing ways to go beyond simple dissemination to strengthen engagement and impact, in line with communications priorities and planning calendars.
  • Monitor OECD discussions and outputs across directorates to propose a coherent editorial calendar and thematic content plans.
  • Draft and schedule social media posts, adapting messaging to different audiences and platforms (LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube).
  • Propose and draft complete social media content plans and mini-campaigns for major events, reports, and initiatives.
  • Create and propose ideas for visual storytelling, series, and campaigns, ensuring posts are engaging and consistent with OECD’s visual identity.
  • Work closely with the graphic design, video and media teams to deliver compelling multimedia content (video, infographics, dataviz, etc.).
  • Pilot new content formats and contribute ideas for innovative digital approaches to improve content performance.

Monitoring and improvement

  • Proactively suggest ways to improve the OECD’s social media presence, based on analytics and emerging best practices.
  • Track social media metrics and provide regular performance reports, highlighting key insights and lessons learned.
  • Evaluate the performance of different social media channels, proposing adjustments and content optimisation where relevant.
  • Listen actively to OECD’s audiences to gather strategic insights for campaign and content development.

Training and knowledge sharing

  • Support corporate expertise by contributing to social media governance, sharing best practices with social media practitioners across directorates.
  • Contribute to innovation and inspire colleagues by staying up to date with new trends, tools, and techniques in social media.
  • Assist in advising on investments in new social media tools and technologies, identifying opportunities to enhance OECD’s digital presence.

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Profile

Academic Background

  • Relevant experience or education in communications, digital media, visual arts, journalism, international relations, or related field.

Professional Background

  • You have experience managing or contributing to large social media accounts with substantial followings.
  • You have experience creating vertical video, and are camera ready.
  • You are skilled in creating content plans and producing visual content for social media, using tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Canva, or video editing software, and can manage workflows under tight deadlines.
  • You have a strong understanding of today’s leading social media platforms, and you stay up-to-date with trends, best practices, and innovations.
  • You know that monitoring and listening are essential to social media success. You are comfortable using social media analytics and monitoring tools, interpreting data, and providing insights to inform content strategy and drive results.
  • You thrive in an environment that values constant learning, innovation, and teamwork.
  • You are proactive and collaborative, acting as a day-to-day social media lead across multiple campaigns and working closely with OECD Directorates.
  • You have knowledge of the OECD’s substantive outputs — or the capacity to learn quickly — and a strong sense of how the Organisation’s work is perceived.

Core Competencies

  • OECD staff are expected to demonstrate behaviours aligned to six core competencies which will be assessed as part of this hiring processes: Vision and Strategy (Level 1); Enable People (Level 1); Ethics and Integrity (Level 1); Collaboration and Horizontality (Level 2); Achieve Results (Level 1); Innovate and Embrace Change (Level 1).

Languages

  • Fluency in one of the two OECD official languages (English and French) and knowledge of the other, with a commitment to reach a good working level.
  • Knowledge of third language would be an asset.

Additional Information

Closing Date

  • This vacancy will be filled as soon as possible, and applications should reach us no later than 21 July 2026 at 23:59 (Paris time).

Contract Duration

  • 12 months, renewable up to a maximum of 24 month.
  • Ideal start date: October 2026

Please note that our Rules and Regulations stipulate that the mandatory retirement age is 67.

Salary Information

  • Monthly salary is 3 590  EUR (T2)

 For retained candidates, the selection process may include a video-recorded interview, job-based assessment and panel interviews.
