Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Consultant Histopathologist to join their well-established pathology service.

The successful candidate will contribute to the department's general histopathology workload while also having the opportunity to develop specialist interests that complement the existing consultant team.
This position would suit both newly qualified consultants approaching CCT and experienced Histopathologists looking for their next substantive appointment.
The Opportunity
Working within an experienced multidisciplinary team, the successful applicant will play an important role in delivering a comprehensive diagnostic histopathology service while contributing to the continued development of pathology services across the organisation.
The laboratory is fully accredited to UKAS ISO 15189:2022 standards and benefits from modern facilities, contemporary diagnostic equipment and an established mortuary service operating under a Human Tissue Authority (HTA) licence.
The department undertakes a substantial post-mortem workload alongside a broad range of routine and specialist histopathology services, providing excellent opportunities for consultants wishing to maintain and develop a varied practice.
Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be expected to:
- Deliver a high-quality diagnostic histopathology service.
- Participate in the department's general reporting workload.
- Develop a specialist area of practice alongside existing consultant expertise.
- Work collaboratively with consultant colleagues and multidisciplinary clinical teams.
- Provide professional leadership and support to scientific, technical and medical staff.
- Participate in departmental governance, audit and quality improvement initiatives.
- Support undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes.
- Contribute to research and service innovation where appropriate.
- Ensure all clinical work is undertaken in accordance with professional standards and organisational policies.

Candidate Requirements
Essential Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
- Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath) or an equivalent specialist qualification.
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Histopathology, or equivalent specialist recognition for applicants trained outside the UK.
