NHS Band 6 Salary: £39,959 - £48,117 per annum
Hours per Week: full time 37.5
Contract Type: 2 x Temporary for 12 months

The COPD Specialist Team at Portsmouth Hospital Trust is looking for hours per week) Band 6 Nurse Currently, the team consists of a full time Band 7 Team Lead CNS and a full time Band 6 CNS.
PHUT sees approximately 1200 patients a year admitted with an acute exacerbation of COPD. The team is responsible for reviewing acute COPD admissions within 24 hours of their admission, and delivering a tailored COPD care bundle, aimed at optimising care and reducing readmission. The COPD service is also an integral part of the respiratory virtual team, identifying respiratory patients for early supported discharge, co-ordinating daily virtual review of patients on the virtual ward during MDT, and supporting direct admissions to the respiratory wards.
The team works across a wide variety of areas including the Emergency Department, Acute Medical Unit, Medical Wards, Respiratory Wards, Respiratory High Care and Respiratory Outpatients. There is a close working relationship with staff in these areas, as well as colleagues within the specialist respiratory services in primary care.
This role is an excellent opportunity for you to develop experience and knowledge of management of COPD, as well as having the potential to work alongside other specialist respiratory services including asthma, bronchiectasis, Tuberculosis, non-invasive ventilation and sleep medicine.

Qualifications
Essential
- Current RN
- Registration with NMC
- BSc Degree in relevant field
- Minimum 4 years post registration experience including at least 2 years’ experience in respiratory medicine.
Desirable
- Masters’ degree and evidence of working towards)
- Post Reg. qualifications in respiratory medicine
Skills and Knowledge
- Clinically competent in respiratory medicine.
