Job Description
Summary
Performs a variety of shipping and receiving tasks. Verifies materials received are as ordered and routes incoming items to appropriate departments/locations. Prepares items for shipment ensuring cost effective courier services.
Job Functions
- Pick-up, drop-off, distribute and ship to designated laboratories/refineries.
- Log samples into laboratory system
- Properly retain samples
- Prepare samples for transportation
- Dispatch courier services for hot shot shipments
- Archive sample retain records
- Assist laboratory and operations personnel in retrieving samples from retain
- Daily maintenance of departmental company vehicles
- Drive forklift for loading and unloading of shipments
- Receive and properly distribute/process all packages delivered by various transportation couriers
- May require additional administrative duties to be performed as needed.
Qualifications
Pay range $18-$24 an hour
Typical schedule is Monday thru Friday 9-5, however, some additional coverage may be needed after hours and during weekends and holidays, depending on the workload. Interstate travel may also be required to collect samples.
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Must have clean driving record and valid drivers’ license, at all times.
- Responsible for disposal of samples and laboratory waste
- Must be able to obtain a TWIC
- Must be able to obtain DOT/IATA certification
- Must be able to obtain RCRA certification
- Must be able to obtain Forklift & Arial Lift certifications
- Class B CDL with Hazmat endorsement is a plus
- Intra/Interstate travel will be required occasionally
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to work with all chemicals, petrochemicals petroleum,
- Must be able to lift items which can weight up to 50 pounds; climb, bend, reach, without restriction.
- – Must be familiar with data entry.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
- High level of accuracy is required, with special attention to details.
- Must be able to read and comprehend labels and instructions.
- Ability to follow instructions independently, with little or no supervision.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) and other applications.
