The role:
As an Assistant Accountant, you’ll support the Finance team by ensuring accurate, timely and compliant financial reporting. You’ll work closely with the Senior Accountant and gain exposure beyond day-to-day transactions in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. Key responsibilities include assisting with a range of accounting duties, including fixed assets, month-end preparation and reporting, audit support, accounts reconciliation, sales reporting and variance analysis.
What you’ll be doing:
- Processing and documenting financial transactions accurately
- Reconciling balance sheet and intercompany accounts and resolving discrepancies
- Assisting with month-end and year-end close (journals and reporting)
- Supporting BAS, PAYG, Payroll Tax, FBT and other statutory reporting
- Assisting with audit documentation and requirements
- Handling day-to-day finance tasks (PO matching, invoice coding, allocations)
- Providing cover across Accounts Payable and Receivable when required
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly sales reports across products and business segments.
- Assist in CAPEX process, maintain the register and perform monthly reconciliation
- Preparing ad-hoc financial analysis and reports
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Accounting
- 2+ years’ experience in a similar accounting role
- Strong understanding of accounting principles
- High attention to detail and strong time management skills
- Advanced Excel skills (XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, SUMIFS)
- Confident written and verbal communication skills
Highly regarded:
- 2-3 years of experience in AA
- Experience using ERP systems and/or Power BI
- Exposure to manufacturing or complex business environments
