Oracle DBA engineer

Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Oracle Database Engineer to support and evolve mission‑critical database infrastructures in a 24/7 production environment. This role is ideal for a highly skilled technical professional with deep expertise in Oracle architecture, performance tuning, high availability and automation. You will act as an L3 reference, ensuring reliability, security and continuity across complex on‑prem and cloud database ecosystems

Responsibilities:

• Design and evolve database architectures across on‑prem and cloud environments, ensuring high availability, performance and resilience;

• Perform advanced L3 administration, troubleshoot complex incidents and lead root‑cause analysis across SQL, storage, HA, RAC and performance layers;

• Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, capacity monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives;

• Define and maintain backup, restore and disaster recovery strategies, including regular DR tests and failover procedures;

• Lead major changes such as upgrades, migrations and architecture redesigns, ensuring safe deployments and proper documentation;

• Participate in 24/7 on‑call rotation, handling critical incidents and coordinating with cross‑functional technical teams when required;

• Develop automation scripts and contribute to CI/CD pipelines to industrialize provisioning, patching, monitoring and reporting,

• Implement and enforce security policies, including encryption, auditing, data masking and compliance with internal and regulatory standards;

• Produce and maintain technical documentation (HLD/LLD, runbooks, procedures) and enrich internal knowledge bases.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of experience in database administration within production environments;

• Strong background in database architecture, high availability, migrations and large‑scale Oracle projects;

• Experience working in multi‑customer or service‑center environments (MSP/outsourcing) is highly valued;

• Advanced expertise in Oracle Database (RMAN, Data Guard, RAC, ASM, OEM, Diagnostics/Tuning Packs, performance tuning);

• Solid knowledge of HA/DR solutions, clustering, replication and failover strategies;

• Strong skills in performance analysis, query optimization, indexing strategies and root‑cause troubleshooting;

• Proficiency in backup/restore mechanisms and handling complex recovery scenarios;

• Good understanding of Linux/AIX environments, OS‑level troubleshooting, virtualization and storage architectures;

• Experience with automation and scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash, Ansible) and contribution to CI/CD pipelines;

• Knowledge of security best practices: encryption, auditing, data masking and compliance frameworks;

• Ability to manage priorities, remain calm under pressure and perform effectively in on‑call situations;

• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross‑functional technical teams;

• Organized, autonomous, customer‑oriented and comfortable working in demanding, SLA‑driven environments;

• Fluent English required; French or Dutch are considered a plus.
