Job Description

AECOM is seeking a talented and motivated Assistant Architect to join our dynamic team in Shanghai, China. This role provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful projects for public and private clients. The ideal candidate will have strong design and technical expertise as well as a collaborative mindset.

What you’ll do

• Conduct dedicated architectural design tasks within the project team under the arrangement of Project Managers and Project Architects. Take full accountability for personal design deliverables in terms of quality and schedule, and collaborate with cross-team members to deliver overall design assignments.
• Support the full-cycle design process including bidding schematic design, schematic design development, preliminary design and construction drawing design in accordance with work arrangements from project management and architectural leads.
• Be proactive in undertaking high-difficulty design tasks and ensure consistent high-quality design outputs.
• Complete assigned design work and coordinate closely with designers of other disciplines for interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Conduct preliminary calculation of building area, daylighting performance and energy-saving indicators for projects.
• Prepare presentation documents and design reports for all project design phases.
• Perform other ad-hoc tasks assigned by the line manager.

 

Qualifications

Meet the requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Architecture or other related majors.
• Minimum 1-2 years of professional architectural design experience covering conceptual design, schematic design, design development and construction documentation. Experienced in mixed-use, residential, commercial office, retail, hospitality and public building projects; candidates with medium-to-large scale project experience are highly preferred.
• Proficient in mainstream design software: Revit, BIM, AutoCAD, Rhino, Grasshopper, SketchUp, PKPM, Photoshop, InDesign; skilled in office and project management tools including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam and Adobe Acrobat.
• Possess excellent communication skills and strong team spirit to liaise smoothly with internal teams and external clients.
• Well-organized working habit, quick response capability and high work efficiency.
• Fluent in both written and spoken English and Mandarin.
A complete personal design portfolio is mandatory for application.
