Our Poconos team is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and motivated Lead Behavioral Health Technician (Lead BHT) to help create a safe, structured, and supportive environment for clients throughout their treatment journey.
As a Lead BHT, you will provide direct client care while serving as a resource and leader for Behavioral Health Technicians on your shift. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys mentoring others, leading by example, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of those seeking recovery.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay: $18.00–$19.00 per hour, based on experience

Position Responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision and support to clients in a residential treatment setting.
- Lead and assist Behavioral Health Technicians during assigned shifts.
- Ensure completion of shift responsibilities and communicate important client information during shift transitions.
- Assist with staff scheduling and daily operational needs.
- Complete admissions and intake procedures for new clients.
- Maintain accurate and timely client documentation.
- Observe and document client self-administration of medications.
- Coordinate client activities and support treatment programming.
- Assist clients in meeting treatment plan goals and individualized needs.
- Provide transportation for appointments, meetings, and other approved activities.
- Respond appropriately to behavioral, emotional, and crisis situations.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment.
- Assist with meal preparation and other daily living activities as needed.
- Complete all required company, state, and accreditation-related trainings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Serve as a positive role model and leader for the BHT team.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and support to staff during shifts.
- Assist with onboarding and training new team members.
- Promote adherence to company policies, procedures, and professional standards.
Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass required background clearances and pre-employment screenings.
Preferred
- Two (2) or more years of experience in behavioral health, mental health, substance use treatment, or healthcare.
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certification.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively manage crisis situations and maintain professionalism under pressure.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Knowledge of behavioral health treatment practices and recovery-oriented care.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and uphold ethical standards.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, and remain active throughout the shift.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency or crisis situations.
- Ability to perform duties requiring close attention to detail and accurate documentation.
Work Environment
This position is primarily located within a residential treatment facility and may involve exposure to behavioral health crises, infectious illnesses, and emotionally challenging situations. Local travel may be required, and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on program needs is expected.
