ABOUT MINERVA

Minerva builds AI for marketing leaders. Our platform lets marketers focus on telling the story of their brand while AI agents handle the operationally intensive work: data management, analytics, campaign generation, measurement and reporting.

Everything is built on Minerva's proprietary consumer graph: an identity and attribute layer covering 270M+ U.S. consumers across 2,000+ through-time attributes. On top of it sit two agentic systems built in partnership with OpenAI: an Agentic Data Engineer that unifies and standardizes a brand's first-party data in hours, and an Agentic Data Scientist that trains robust targeting models at scale. Together, our data and platform improve the quality of a brand's first-party data, lift campaign performance and give marketing teams their time back.

We work with leading consumer brands across categories, including the NBA, Capital One, Hard Rock Stadium Group / Miami Dolphins, Wander and Trust & Will. We've raised $20M from The General Partnership, 8VC, Lingotto, NBA Investments, Topology Ventures, Future Positive, Background Capital and many others. Our team brings together operators and investors from Citadel, Dentsu, Bridgewater, Meta Superintelligence and Lazard, alongside researchers from Berkeley, MIT, Stanford and Cambridge.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You're the engineer in the room when a customer's CMO, RevOps lead and data team are all asking the same question different ways: "How do we actually get value out of Minerva's data inside our stack?"

As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you own technical onboarding end-to-end: you embed with our highest-value brands, scope what "good" looks like with their commercial and technical stakeholders and ship the integration that gets their data mapped into Minerva's golden model and activated in their CRM, CDP, ad platforms and Clay workflows.

As we scale toward 100+ brands, you're both the person who makes each customer succeed and the field sensor that tells us which integrations and agent behaviors to productize.

This is not a support role. It's technical ownership with a customer face: production code in the morning, a discovery call with a CMO in the afternoon and a 2am-customer-time integration triage when it counts.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own onboarding end-to-end, from first POC to production rollout: scope, design and build the integration between Minerva's API and data and the customer's stack (CRMs, CDPs, warehouses, ad platforms)

  • Expand the data ontology from the field: every customer brings concepts our model doesn't represent yet (new entities, attributes, behaviors, events). You identify them, map the customer's world onto Minerva's ontology, define what's genuinely new and spec it so it can become canonical. Your counterpart on the data platform team handles the technical side of folding it in safely

  • Build the brand's data models in our platform: map a customer's source data (Shopify, HubSpot, Klaviyo, etc.) onto our standardized contracts, handle the general class of source-system messiness (inconsistent identifiers, deletes, multi-tenant routing) and write the validations that prove the numbers are right before a CMO ever sees a dashboard

  • Sell the value and the vision: run discovery that doubles as a commercial conversation, make the case to a CMO or RevOps leader for what's worth building, demonstrate ROI and drive land-and-expand inside strategic accounts. You're a technical owner who can also move a deal and grow an account

  • Be the last line of technical defense: debug production integrations, investigate data-freshness and match-rate issues and resolve them fast

  • Deliver data agentically, not just traditionally: stand up agent-facing access to Minerva's data for customers (MCP, agent workflows, natural-language question answering such as our Agentic Data Scientist) alongside the API and ETL paths. Agentic access is a first-class way customers get value, often the most important one

  • Close the loop with product: surface field insights that shape API schema, data coverage and roadmap, and flag the integration patterns (and agent behaviors) worth turning into platform primitives

WHAT YOU HAVE

  • 3–6 years of software engineering with strong Python and/or TypeScript/JavaScript

  • Proven ability to design and ship production data pipelines and custom workflows, and to read someone else's data model and map it onto a canonical one without hand-holding

  • A feel for data modeling and ontology: you can take a customer's domain, map it onto a canonical model and articulate where it needs to be extended

  • Customer-facing and commercial instinct: you've worked directly with customers (as an FDE, solutions or sales engineer, consultant or TAM) and you can sell. You make the ROI case, win over a skeptical CMO and expand an account, running a discovery call and a value conversation in the same breath

  • Working comfort with the GTM and activation stack: Salesforce, HubSpot, Segment, Snowflake or similar

  • Strong written and verbal communication. You can hold both halves of a conversation: the executive "why" and the engineering "how"

  • Willing to work onsite in NYC (relocation provided) and comfortable wearing several hats in a lean, fast-moving team

NICE TO HAVES

  • Prior time at a data infrastructure, enrichment or API-first company

  • Deep familiarity with Clay workflows, Salesforce data flows or CDPs

  • Background in GTM engineering, RevOps automation or growth engineering

  • Experience building or operating agentic or AI-powered workflows on top of data APIs (OpenAI Agents SDK, MCP, retrieval), or guiding agent output as a human in the loop

  • Exposure to consumer-data compliance: CCPA, data-broker regulation, opt-out infrastructure

  • SQL fluency and comfort in a transformation framework (SQLMesh or dbt); you'll be in ours

Counterpart role: you expand the ontology and sell from the field; our Staff Data Engineer owns the technical side of evolving that ontology and the platform so the next onboarding is faster.
