Job Description
The Environmental, Health and Safety Manager acts as a strategic partner and change agent, working with the NA Environmental and Health & Safety Departments to ensure consistent execution of regional EH&S policies and strategies. This role advises site leadership on EH&S objectives, challenges the status quo to drive improvement, and confidently pushes back when needed to maintain compliance and best practices. The position integrates EH&S into site culture and leads all phases of the plant’s environmental, health, and safety programs.
The Environmental, Health & Safety Manager will:
- Plan, promote, and follow-up on all phases of the plant safety program and drive the safety culture.
- Create and develop new methods and strategies to help engage employees in safety culture.
- Maintain accurate and complete records that meet regulatory requirements, including but not limited to:
- Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)
- Department of Transportation (DOT)
- Clean Air Act (CAA)
- Clean Water Act (CWA)
- Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA)
- Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA)
- All applicable local and state regulatory requirements
- Anticipate, identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices through work site knowledge, employee interactions, and work site inspection, and control exposures to occupational health hazards.
- Conduct mandated employee health and safety training programs.
- Participate in state and federal OSHA inspections.
- Act as the site contact for Worker’s Compensation issues.
- Conduct applicable facility environmental training including: Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure Plan (SPCC).
The Environmental, Health & Safety Manager should have:
- High energy with the ability to motivate people and drive the safety culture.
- Experience leading, planning, and promoting all phases of the plant safety program.
- Experience developing and delivering training
- Experience with air permitting
- Be able to implement, administer and advise others on hazard controls and hazard control programs.
- The skills to coordinate the plant accident and investigation program, including the maintenance of required OSHA reports.
- The ability to assist Regional EH&S staff in the quantification, evaluation and control of employee exposure to potential occupational health hazards
- A collaborative approach to leadership and a willingness to actively participate on the floor
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing plant performing Environmental, Health and Safety activities
- Proficient in MS Office
- CSP, CIH, or CHMM certification is preferred
- Able to certify OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 training is preferred
Additional Information
Salary Range: The expected salary range for this position is between $90,000 - $125,000 and includes a possible 12% short-term incentive bonus. Actual pay will be adjusted based upon candidate experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
