Job Description

The Didipio mine is located on Luzon Island in the Philippines and is the Company’s only asset that produces both gold and copper. Didipio was built by OceanaGold in 2013 and operates fully as underground mine, with over 800 employees that support the mine.

OceanaGold is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and reliable Metallurgist to safely provide metallurgical input into the efficient running of the Process Plant and associated service areas to maximize copper tonnes and gold ounces recovered. The role will report to the Senior Metallurgist.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Monitors and evaluates metallurgical processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing appropriate corrective actions
  • Provides technical support and troubleshooting assistance to Process Ops and Process team.
  • Actively seeks opportunities to optimize process plant recovery and throughput, identifying areas for improvement
  • Prepares complex technical communications (resolutions, proposals, activity designs, reports, procedures, MOA) that meet organizational standards and recipient expectations
  • Reviews data and recommend enhancements and/or changes in procedures, processes, and policies

Educational Background:

  • BS Metallurgical Engineering

Work Experience and Background:

  • Minimum of 2 years in a metallic mine processing plant; exposure to gold and copper extraction preferred.

Specialization/License:

  • PRC License in Metallurgical Engineering preferred

Knowledge:

  • Metallurgical plant engineering design
  • Mass balance
  • Metal accounting
  • Metallurgical laboratory test work

Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with complex problems, including both definition of the problem and generation and evaluation of solutions.
  • Must be able to achieve set goals, including utilizing and organizing given resources.
  • Critical thinking and effective decision-making skills from a range of options
  • Effective written and oral communication skills and the ability to convince others to cooperate and contribute.
  • Computer literate, able to drive a light vehicle (optional)
  • Satisfactory results from the prescribed medical examination and psychological appraisal which may indicate fitness and ability to carry out prescribed tasks to required performance and safety standards.
  • Attention to detail, and service orientation.
  • Excellent data collection, data analysis, and presentation skills
