About Build
AI for the Built World. We help institutional real estate teams automate complex development and acquisitions workflows so important projects can move from concept to completion faster, with less cost, delay, and operational drag. We do this through our suite of AI workers that can complete complex workflows in a small fraction of the time it takes the rest of industry. The time is compressed, the quality is better, the price is half of what market charges.
Our customers include some of the largest built-world institutions: alternative asset investors, developers, infrastructure owners, energy companies, industrial operators, and public-sector partners. We are backed by leading investors and operators, including executives from Blackstone and OpenAI, alongside top venture firms.
We sell outcomes, not software. Clients pay for results delivered by a combination of agentic AI and deep domain expertise. The commercial motion reflects that: it requires credibility, judgment, and the ability to navigate complex institutions, not a traditional sales playbook.
The role
Build is at the moment where commercial velocity becomes the constraint. The product is working. The team is growing. The pipeline is strong. What we need now is someone who can take a high volume of inbound and outbound interest and convert it predictably, and build the systems that make that conversion repeatable.
"The close motion is working. Your job is to make it clockwork."
This is not a traditional sales role. You will be working with CIOs, heads of acquisitions, and development directors at some of the world's largest real estate institutions. You need to understand their world, speak their language, and make the case for Build in terms that resonate with people who have seen every vendor pitch imaginable.
Build has an insanely strong inbound motion through word of mouth and your job is to evolve the playbook so closing becomes clockwork. You will work directly with the founders, own the commercial motion end-to-end, bring in the right technical/domain team member to service the deal and build the function that drives Build's growth.
Rather than a team of AEs, you'll be driving great commercial practice through our domain team who act as technical credibility and delivery once contracts are signed. This means that in time, the role is more geared towards enablement and system building with heavy business development.
What you'll do
Own the full commercial motion: qualification, pipeline management, proposal, close
Run outbound campaigns targeting institutional real estate investors, developers, and operators
Manage and grow a pipeline of enterprise and institutional accounts
Develop and iterate the GTM playbook: what works, what doesn't, what scales
Coordinate with the domain and delivery team to scope engagements and set expectations accurately
Build the systems and processes that make closing repeatable and predictable
Represent Build in senior commercial conversations. You are credible in the room
What we're looking for
A degree in civil, structural, or technical engineering, and/or a track record of closing complex, multi-stakeholder deals in institutional real estate, infrastructure, or adjacent professional services
Comfort with long sales cycles and the patience to move them without losing momentum
Strong enough domain knowledge to hold a conversation with a head of acquisitions without needing to look anything up
Genuine, proven curiosity about AI and what it can do for the built world, not just a talking point
Automation-first mindset: your first instinct when a process is repetitive is to automate it, not hire for it
Builder instinct: you don't wait for a process to exist, you improve it
Clear, direct communication, written and verbal
Based in New York or willing to be
Willing to get on a plane and do what it takes to drive deals to close
What this is not
A volume SDR motion. We don't win deals by sending 500 cold emails.
A product demo role. You need to understand what Build does well enough to have the conversation without a deck.
A pre-sales and post-sales split. At Build there is no handoff.
