A DAY IN A LIFE

• Own the health, availability, and performance of PostgreSQL (GCP AlloyDb) and MongoDB across GCP and Tencent Cloud 
• Monitor and tune slow queries, indexes, and execution plans across both relational and document store workloads
• Manage automated backups, restore procedures, and DR runbooks — including cross-region failover between Tencent Cloud (CN) and GCP (SG)
• Right-size database instances and storage tiers; identify and eliminate over-provisioning across dev, staging, and production
• Design horizontal and vertical scaling strategies — sharding for MongoDB, read-replica routing for PostgreSQL
• Track and report monthly database spend across GCP and Tencent Cloud; drive cost reduction initiatives
• Review and approve schema changes, migration scripts, and data model designs from product engineering squads
• Support the data sync pipeline between Tencent Cloud and GCP, ensuring consistency with PIPL and PDPA requirements
• Implement and audit database RBAC, credential rotation, encryption at rest/in transit, and audit logging
• Lead database incident response, root cause analysis, and post-mortem documentation
• Build and maintain SigNoz / Cloud Monitoring dashboards for connection counts, replication lag, cache hit ratios, and IOPS
• Keep database runbooks current, tested, and accessible; participate in on-call rotation

REQUIREMENTS

• 5+ years of hands-on DBA experience with production PostgreSQL and MongoDB at scale
• Proven experience on GCP (Cloud SQL, AlloyDB) — Tencent Cloud (TencentDB) experience is a strong plus
• Deep expertise in query optimisation, index tuning, and schema design for both SQL and NoSQL workloads
• Track record of measurable cost reduction through right-sizing, connection pooling, and query efficiency
• Strong understanding of HA architecture: streaming replication, failover, read replicas, and point-in-time recovery
• Hands-on with database migration tooling (Flyway, Liquibase, or equivalent) integrated into CI/CD pipelines
• Scripting ability in Python or Bash for automation, alerting, and health check workflows
• Familiarity with observability tools — Grafana, SigNoz, Cloud Monitoring, or equivalent
• Comfortable leading production incidents and communicating clearly with engineering and business stakeholders

Nice to Have

• Experience with MongoDB Atlas advanced features (Search, Data Federation, Online Archive) or AlloyDB
• Knowledge of Malaysia PDPA, China PIPL, or cross-border data compliance requirements
• Certifications: Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer, MongoDB Certified DBA, or equivalent
• Background in logistics, e-commerce, or high-growth tech companies
