Summary: As a Welder you will be responsible for various welding activities on active railway property and construction sites. You will perform these duties using specific railway operating rules, instructions, and guidelines. This position contributes to the safety and efficiency of the work group while minimizing delays to railway operations while complying with Federal Railroad Association (FRA) rules and regulations.
The ideal candidate would have minimum five years of experience welding non‑pressurized pipe (36"–60") using a Miller Trail Boss with a stick welding setup.
- Certified Welder: Able to present a certificate from an accredited Welding Institution.
- Possess knowledge of GCOR and other on-track safety procedures according to state, federal, company, and the client’s rules or policies - work safely to prevent accidents and injuries
- Adhere to and promote safe work practices as determined by the company and railroad
- Plan out work activities with Operations team to develop best means and methods, including developing safety action plans or other emergency plans as needed
- Ensures team has proper resources for the timely completion of work, including labor, tools, equipment and material
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with all company and customer safety policies and procedures including maintaining eRail Safe certification
- Complete written forms and reports, including FRA reports, as required
- Potentially drive company vehicles if necessary and qualified
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, hearing protection, safety-toe boots or safety glasses when required
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move heavy weights. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and may be required to work nights, holidays, and weekends. The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts.
