One of Florida’s premier, multi-location private ophthalmology groups is seeking a skilled and patient-centric Ophthalmic Technician II to join our growing team. In this mid-level role, you will provide advanced clinical support, perform specialized diagnostic testing, and deliver exceptional care across our modern South/Central Florida offices. The ideal candidate brings strong technical proficiency in eye care diagnostics and enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced private practice environment dedicated to clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advanced Patient Workups: Conduct comprehensive preliminary examinations including detailed medical histories, visual acuity, lensometry, applanation tonometry, pupil evaluation, and motility testing.
  • Specialized Diagnostic Testing: Perform complex ophthalmic imaging and testing, including Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Humphrey Visual Fields (HVF), fundus photography, corneal topography, and biometry (IOL Master).
  • Clinical & Surgical Assisting: Prepare patients for and assist ophthalmologists with minor in-office surgical procedures, laser treatments, and sterile intravitreal injections.
  • Efficient Patient Flow: Manage the clinical schedule dynamically across exam rooms to minimize patient wait times while maintaining a high standard of personalized care.
  • Accurate Documentation: Log all clinical data, diagnostic test results, and patient interactions accurately within our electronic health records (EHR) system.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; formal training from an accredited ophthalmic program is a plus.
  • Certification: Active Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) designation by IJCAHPO is highly preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of hands-on experience as an Ophthalmic Tech in a private practice or sub-specialty environment (e.g., retina, cornea, glaucoma, or cataracts).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with advanced ophthalmic equipment (Zeiss, Heidelberg, etc.) and EHR software (e.g., Modernizing Medicine/EMA, NextGen).
  • Flexibility: Ability to occasionally travel to our nearby sister clinics within the local region as needed.
