The Director of Nursing oversees the Wellness Staff, including Personal Care Attendants, CMAs, CNAs, RNs, and LPNs, ensuring compliance with resident care plans, regulations, and corporate policies. This role prioritizes resident safety and comfort, manages medication administration, monitors pharmaceutical processes, and coordinates care with physicians. Responsibilities also include conducting assessments, leading family meetings, organizing staff training, and managing the assisted living program. The Director is on-call 24/7 unless coverage arrangements are in place. 

 

### Leadership Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and assess programs in line with facility regulations. Set and review goals   
 
Oversee timely ordering, recording, storage, and distribution of medications. Manage MARS and delegate medication assistance/administration.  
 
Assess residents at least semi-annually, ensure care continuity, monitor health care plans, and coordinate hospital and SAR transitions. Facilitate third-party services and manage transfer agreements.  
 
Review pharmacy, dietician, and physician reports. Ensure staff comply with licensing, certification, and documentation standards. Adhere to HIPAA and resident rights regulations. 
 
Hire, evaluate, train, and discipline staff. Oversee orientation, ongoing education, infection control policies, and Human Resources compliance. Schedule and monitor staff efficiency.  
 
Maintain and audit resident charts and staff records. Prepare documents for surveys, inspections, and incident reports 
 
Conduct service plan reviews, participate in family meetings, and keep the Executive Director informed of resident health assessments.  
 
Complete payroll, daily/monthly reports, and medical forms. Participate in staff and resident functions and be on-call as required. Order supplies within budget guidelines.  
 
Assist with evacuations and falls. Ensure infection control and safety protocols are followed.  
 
Attend in-service programs and fulfill license education requirements, as outlined by the state.  
 
Other related duties or projects as assigned.

Must have a valid  LPN license in the state of employment.   
 
Must have at least 2 years of supervisory experience, preferably in an assisted living environment 
 
Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, including laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to residential and assisted living communities.  
 
Must have excellent written and oral communication and ability to write in the English language, in a legible and understandable manner, to ensure instructions are understood and followed up on by staff and/or medical practitioners.   
 
Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with residents, their family, regulatory agencies, personnel and the general public.   
 
 
Must demonstrate patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.   
 
Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs goals, objectives, policies, procedures etc.   
 
Must have ability to work with computerized systems such as EMAR.
