What is Specialist Transport Planning Carrier, Enterprise & IP and what does it do?

The role is responsible for Transport planning activities for IP Network which includes MPBN, Enterprise and Internet Gateway Network. HLD/LLD preparation, verifications, Network design, vendor coordination, documentation, departmental finances & project management. Self-motivated, can work under pressure with stretched timelines. Takes initiatives for network optimizations.

The role reports directly to the Manager Transport Planning, Carrier, Enterprise & IP.

What does Specialist Transport Planning Carrier, Enterprise & IP do?

• Planning, design and implementation of components of the IP/MPLS network.
• Design, build, and manage network consisting of MPLS, BGP, OSPF, ISIS and layer 2 switching, Qos and IP backbone network security.
• Validate technical solutions proposed by the vendor.
• Responsible for IP Infrastructure R&S and Network security planning.
• Design and configure Routers, switches and network security component firewalls, Site-to-Site and SSL VPN.
• RFP preparation and evaluation.
• Low Level Design & Documentation, Network Implementation Plan, Network Migration Plan, Coordination and timely provisioning of systems and subsystems.
• Responsible for integration of various service domains (including IN, VAS, MFS, RAN, CS Core, PS Core etc.)  and for their transportation across the MPLS domain.
• Responsible for preparation of documentation including network plans, standard operation procedures and inventory management records.
• Highlighting and identifying network optimization needs and discussing plans for implementation of network optimization solutions.
• Preparing MOPs and SOPs to facilitate team in handling issues and defining new flows.CAPEX/OPEX financial management. Budget forecasting for upcoming projects.
• Responsible for reporting, analysis, correlation and event management through Network Management & Monitoring System.
• Comply with all the departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) during the execution of tasks and carrying out all job-related duties.

Requirements

What are we looking for and what does it require to be Specialist Transport Planning Carrier, Enterprise & IP?

Experience and Educational requirements

o   Minimum 1-3 years’ experience with BSc. Electrical/Electronics/Computer Engineering or in any other relevant field

Soft skills and technical skills required

o   Presentations and incident reporting

o   Project management

o   Good skill of communications

Essential skills must have: 

o   Solid understanding of IP-MPLS (Service Provider) & Enterprise networks with hands on experience on Cisco, Juniper and Huawei products.

o   Extensive knowledge of new technologies i.e. Cloud networks, IPv6 & Automation.

o   Excellent command over BGP (iBGP & eBGP), MPLS, SR, RSVP, LDP, OSPF, IS-IS, RIP and static routing protocols.

o   Solid understanding of IXP network infrastructure with hands on experience.

o   Good understanding of MPLS protocol and know-how of network topologies and their inter-working along with latest IP network protocols and technology knowledge

o   Excellent knowledge of network Security and hands on experience on Firewalls

o   Technical proficiency balanced with a desire and aptitude to plan, co-ordinate and project manage

Desirable Skills:

o   Extensive understanding of MPLS protocol and it’s applications

o   Computer Proficiency, MS Office must include MS Visio & Power point.

o   Communication and presentations skills to make solutions/ideas understandable for respective audience segments

o   Should not have any concerns working in shifts round the clock and if required on holidays (including public holidays) as an emergency resource.
