Lead Database & Geographic Information System (GIS) Geologist

Reports to: Vice President, Exploration

Location: Headquarters, Toronto, ON

Blue Moon Metals is seeking a Lead Database & Geographic Information System (GIS) Geologist to oversee geological databases, GIS systems, and digital data workflows supporting exploration and development projects. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership in geological data management, QA/QC processes, and spatial data systems while ensuring geological and spatial data is maintained in accordance with Company standards, NI 43-101 requirements, and industry best practices.

Working collaboratively across geology, exploration, engineering, and corporate teams, the role will support exploration activities, technical reporting, project evaluations, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Geological Database & GIS Management

  • Lead geological database and GIS management activities across exploration and development projects.
  • Maintain geological, drilling, sampling, assay, and spatial datasets to ensure integrity, accuracy, and accessibility.
  • Support data acquisition, integration, visualization, and interpretation through GIS and geological database tools.
  • Develop and maintain geological data workflows, standards, and governance processes.

QA/QC & Technical Standards

  • Implement and maintain QA/QC procedures aligned with NI 43-101 requirements and industry best practices.
  • Review geological information and exploration datasets to support technical reporting and resource evaluation activities.
  • Maintain documentation standards and support data governance initiatives.

Exploration & Technical Support

  • Support exploration and development teams through GIS analysis, geological data compilation, and technical evaluations.
  • Collaborate with technical teams on project reviews, due diligence activities, and corporate growth initiatives.
  • Support preparation of maps, figures, presentations, and technical materials.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Provide technical guidance related to geological databases, GIS systems, and digital workflows.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data quality, reporting efficiency, and geological data systems.
  • Promote Blue Moon Metals safety, environmental, and operational standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, Earth Sciences, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in exploration geology with emphasis on geological database management, GIS systems, and exploration data workflows within mining or mineral exploration environments, including Brownfield and Greenfield exploration programs.
  • Strong understanding of geological data management practices, data acquisition, geological data validation, QA/QC protocols, and NI 43-101 reporting standards.
  • Experience executing and supporting drilling programs, geological mapping, sampling workflows, geochemistry, geophysics, and geological interpretation activities.
  • Proficiency with GIS and geological software platforms such as ArcGIS, Leapfrog, Geosoft, Target, MX Deposit, or comparable geological database systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Registration as a Qualified Person (QP), Professional Geologist (P.Geo.), or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) will be considered a strong asset for this role.
