Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid with 2-3 days per week in office)
Blue Moon Metals Inc. is seeking an experienced and strategic Finance Director to join our rapidly growing team. Reporting to the corporate leadership team at our Toronto headquarters, the Finance Director will be responsible for leading the Company's financial management, reporting and treasury across our international operations.
The Finance Director will play a key role in supporting executive decision-making, ensuring financial compliance, strengthening internal controls, and providing financial leadership as Blue Moon Metals advances its mining projects and corporate growth initiatives in Canada, Norway, and the United States.
This position requires a hands-on finance leader who can operate effectively in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment while maintaining strong financial discipline and governance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy
- Lead the Company's financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial modeling processes.
- Provide strategic financial analysis and recommendations to support executive and operational decision-making.
- Partner with senior leadership to evaluate business performance, capital allocation, and growth opportunities.
- Support financing activities, investor relations initiatives, and corporate development projects as required.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards in both Canada and US for a publicly listed company in TSX and Nasdaq. Experience with IFRS is mandatory. Experience with US GAAP is desirable.
- Ensure timely and accurate management reporting for executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
- Coordinate external audits and serve as the primary liaison with auditors and financial advisors.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, tax, public company, and financial reporting requirements.
Treasury & Cash Management
- Manage cash flow forecasting and treasury activities to support ongoing operations and project development.
- Monitor liquidity requirements and optimize working capital management.
- Support banking relationships, financing arrangements, and foreign exchange management across multiple jurisdictions.
Internal Controls & Governance
- Establish and maintain effective financial controls, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with internal governance standards and corporate policies.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting processes, and operational efficiencies.
Team Leadership
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to finance team members.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Support the growth and development of finance processes as the organization expands.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related field.
- CPA designation required.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
- Experience within the mining, natural resources, industrial, or project-based sectors is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury management, and internal controls.
- Experience supporting public company reporting requirements is considered a strong asset.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with executive leadership and influence strategic decision-making.
- Advanced proficiency with financial systems, ERP platforms, and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
