Bad Robot Games is looking for a Principal UI Artist who is a creative problem solver and champion of the player experience. We are looking for someone with a strong command of visual design, motion graphics, and UI art production, and the ability to bring a polished, cohesive aesthetic to everything they touch. Experience collaborating with outsource studios is a bonus.

A portfolio that demonstrates a strong understanding of UI art and design, including iconography, animation, and motion graphics work, is required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Help define a minimal, intuitive, and visually compelling UI that supports overall game design goals

  • Create AAA quality UI art assets, including icons, fonts, animations, and motion graphics from concept to completion using Photoshop, Figma, and After Effects for concepting to implementation in Unreal.

  • Design UI elements for menus, HUD and in-world interfaces

  • Research visual trends and player-facing UI across games to help define actionable steps in pursuing a great experience for players

  • Coordinate and collaborate with UX Designers, Technical UI Designers and UI Engineers to achieve the desired quality in an asynchronous, remote development environment

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years of experience in AAA game development, with a focus on UI art and shipped titles on PlayStation & PC

  • Proficient in Unreal Engine 5

  • Expert proficiency in Photoshop, Figma, and After Effects as your primary tools

  • Strong command of iconography, layout, typography, and visual design principles and how they support and enhance game design

  • Ability to create and deliver polished UI animations using the animation timeline in Unreal.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate design rationale and influence decisions across disciplines

  • All of our roles require up to 10% air travel. Examples include Studio/Team Offsites, Team/Studio Events, etc.

Our ranges are based on California market rate regardless of work location in the US.
