The Role
This is an excellent opportunity to join Teneo’s well established Financial Advisory team in Cardiff. You will work alongside some of the most experienced practitioners advising the management teams, lenders and shareholders of businesses that are underperforming and/or facing any financial challenges.
The Cardiff team delivers complex, high-profile advisory and formal insolvency appointments, both locally and nationally and across a range of sectors. As a Senior Consultant, you will be exposed to a variety of projects in areas such as debt advisory, accelerated M&A, insolvency, performance improvement and financial forecasting.
As a Senior Consultant, you will contribute to a range of projects including restructuring, insolvency, financial forecasting and transaction support. You will take responsibility for delivering key pieces of analysis, while continuing to develop your technical and client-facing skills.
The position encourages growth and career development, with a clear path of progression. You will develop a broad skill set across financial modelling, report writing, and stakeholder management, as well as being involved with business development activities that will build your network.
You will primarily be based in our Cardiff office, with opportunities to work at client sites and collaborate with colleagues across other locations.
Key Responsibilities
Client Service
On a day-to-day basis, you will be a key team member working on financial restructuring and insolvency engagements. With guidance, your role will include:
- Lead discrete workstreams on restructuring and insolvency assignments
- Produce clear, high-quality client deliverables that inform key decisions
- Analyse financial performance and support the development of forecasts
- Assisting the production of high-quality reports and information memorandums to support restructuring and refinance transactions.
- Work directly with management teams and stakeholders to gather and challenge information
- Support delivery of formal insolvency processes where required
- Undertaking ad hoc assignments on insolvency appointments such as realising assets, managing suppliers, and instructing other professionals/agents.
Knowledge Acquisition
With support, you will be expected to develop a broad range of skills, including:
- Building client relationship skills, sector knowledge and leadership skills to support ongoing career progression
- Build technical expertise of restructuring, market awareness and Teneo’s Financial Advisory propositions
- Developing a range of report writing, project management, and advisory skills
People and Leadership
You will continue to build on your client relationship, business advisory and people management skills and, as your career progresses, you will have an increasing opportunity to lead junior colleagues. Core elements of your role from day one will include:

Business Development
Business development is a critical aspect of the team’s day-to-day activities and you will be expected to pro-actively contribute in this area by:
- Contribute to proposals, pitches and market research
- Help identify opportunities to support existing and new clients
- Build your professional network within the restructuring market
- Supporting colleagues to run a key account team, including participating in, and organising, client events.
Key Skills & Experience
In addition to your ambition to learn, develop and progress, we require an individual with the following core skills:
- ACA/ACCA/ICAS or equivalent qualification or experience (fully qualified)
- Experience in an advisory or accounting environment
- Client first outlook, with the ability to work quickly and establish effective working relationships with clients and colleagues
- Strong analytical skills and confidence working with financial data
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to take ownership of work and deliver to deadlines
- Be a self-starter demonstrating initiative, with a strong track record of achievement
- Experience of writing internal and/or client deliverables.
- Experience of using standard IT packages such as Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in restructuring, insolvency or transaction-related work
- Financial modelling or forecasting experience
