We have an opportunity for a Senior Chef De Partie to support our busy dinner service.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Chef De Partie to join our new restaurant at Sudima Queenstown Five Mile.
We are seeking a chef with a passion for innovation, the ability to think creatively, and ensure consistent high quality food. We value working together as one and all contributing to team results.
This is a full time role with a minimum of 30 hours per week and a pay rate of $33 - $34 per hour.
Responsibilities | Ngā haepapa
- Predominantly supporting our busy evening dinner and event service
- Preparing and cooking excellent quality dishes to brand standards for the restaurant, bar, conferencing and room service on a day to day basis
- Support the Head Chef and where appropriate guide junior kitchen team members
- Control wastage costs by following efficient preparation methods
- Plan menus, accurately estimate food and labour costs, and manage supply orders to ensure seamless operations.
- Ensuring all food is stored and handled as per current food health and hygiene regulations
- Offer flexibility with dietary needs and ensure excellent food hygiene and safety standard are adhered to
- Foster a great team environment of cooperation and respect between co-worker
- Demonstrate cooking techniques and provide guidance to junior kitchen team members to foster skill development.
- Ensure that work area, equipment and section is kept clean at all times
- Monitor the quality of dishes throughout preparation and presentation stages, ensuring consistency and excellence.
- Organising the shift, placing orders, prep completion and supporting the team to ensure the kitchen is always well prepared, clean and hygienic for each shift
- Assisting the Head Chef with the general administrative duties running a busy hotel kitchen
Requirements

- Availability to work flexibly across rostered shifts, including weekends, late nights and public holidays
- A minimum of 3 years relevant experience OR NZQF Diploma (ANZCO Skill Level 2)
- Ability to multi-task, show flexibility, meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Open communication skills and the ability to work well within a team as well as individually
- Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently
- Capable of planning and delegating multiple tasks
- An understanding of culinary trends and a passion to gain new knowledge
- Excellent use of various cooking methods, ingredients and equipment
- Strong commitment to food safety requirements
- IT skills to assist with kitchen administration duties
- Current rights to work within NZ
